Re: Jim Buss aint leaving on his own thread
I'm in for a lot of the scenarios outside of anything to do with Magic. I was around when he took a team headed for the playoffs in the 90's and destroyed the chemistry and then blamed the team. He's not a guy who can set aside his ego and he's also not a guy who has any history whatsoever at leading a FO team or evaluating talent. His appearance would be first and foremost a way to keep fans interested a little while longer. It would also signal that the FO is more concerned about image over substance.

Yeah, I don't see Magic wanting to have anything to do with running the day to day basketball ops of the team... He wants to OWN the Lakers... And probably will one day.
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...

This may be true but he will not bring in a strong GM/personality to compete with his own. He's not a Larry Bird type in the front office... he's more Cuban IMHO.

I'm agreeing with you... Magic is my favorite Basketball player ever, but I don't want him back as GM or owner... Especially not in these circumstances.

I know we agree. I was a bigger Kareem guy back in the day but Magic was amazing as well. We never won any of those back then without Cap. Showtime for 42 minutes with 6 minutes of skyhooks...

I have nothing against Magic specifically however there are a lot of former greats that don't work well in the FO. Isiah comes to mind.

Jerry West is 77 years old fellas...let it go. Job is too stressful at this point in his life.
Would rather see Ryan West move up or see Jeannie pull the big gun and bring in a proven GM.

Yeah, Jerry West is not an ideal candidate for GM anymore... But he'd be awesome in Magic's current role, especially if his son was the GM.
