The absolute worst part about all these damn wins
Is that we traded away Lou Williams to double down on the tank to secure the second seed for lotto balls.... Now we just puked that all away in the last four games or so. We might as well have kept Lou if we were going to do this. Lou is a legit 6th man - the best 6th man in the league imo - and we had something going there for a while with him leading our bench unit. Sure we got a first rounder for him but it was a late first round pick. Hopefully Pelenka can package/ move these assets into something more beneficial for us. Because when we start caring about winning again next Oct, we are really going to miss Lou.

**** Lou.
A more assertive Russell and Ingram, and a possible rotation piece via draft? To get rid of his sorry ass?

Re: The absolute worst part about all these damn wins
Lou WIlliams hurts the development of our young players, and our ball movement. Yeah lets keep Lou Williams, let him chuck all he wants, and play no defense!!!!! I'd rather lose next year and have good ball movement, then win with Lou WIlliams chucking up every shot.
Lakerfimroom video of a play from last night. That would not be possible if Williams was still here.

Re: The absolute worst part about all these damn wins
Was at game last night and saw that play that Princeinrevolt posted, they never run that if Lou Williams is on the court. Anybody thinking they will has a very low ball IQ. I counted the counters they ran but more importantly look at the clip again and watch how confused the Kings defense got.
Look at the :31 sec mark...that's sums up how confused they were, they made Cauley-Stein basically a statue most on that sequence. The ball movement was precise and this is what Luke's offense will look like on a consistent basis once everybody buys in and trust the process of it.
Once that young core reaches the confidence in their abilities to finish plays like that, the Lakers will score at will on teams in the future.

Having that late first gives them some more flexibility for trades, since you can't not have a 1st round pick 2 years in a row.

I like Lou but he just takes away shots from the youth. In this rebuilding phase he made no sense to keep around. Good pickup for Houston.

If the Lakers lose their lottery pick this year I don't believe getting Houston's 1st round pick would would allow us to deal our 2018 first round pick prior to draft night.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!!

Nets are now sitting at 20 wins. Without arguably the stupidest 3 game win streak in franchise history we have here, we would be tied with them for last place.
God, I hope we re-sign Ennis and Robinson. Then Laker fans can spend the next few years tormenting them like they did Luke during his career.

Trading for another 1st round pick fulfills the requirement if you've already traded your own:
Teams are allowed to trade away consecutive first-rounders of their own as long as they still adhere to the Stepien rule by acquiring other teams’ picks.

We'd be in 2nd without the 3 game win streak.

Right, but if the Lakers lose their pick, they also forfeit their 2019 pick to Orlando. That's why they couldn't trade their 2018 pick. If they keep their pick, Orlando just gets a couple seconds I think.
Anyway, the worst thing about this streak is I have the lakers to win under 26 games and I want to win my bet.

Re: The absolute worst part about all these damn wins
Idk Tyler ennis is looking like a legit sixth man
Warspite:
Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Lou Williams is def not the worst part of potentially losing a top 3 pick

Magic fan here: if the Lakers keep their 1st, the 2019 can be traded as the Lakers would have the Houston 1st in 2018. If LAL losses this pick, as the Magic then own the Lakers 2019 1st, the Lakers cannot trade away the Houston 2018 before it is used (the resultant draft rights can be immediately traded and the Lakers can draft for another team in that). In this scenario the Lakers cannot trade away their 2020 pick until the Magic use the Lakers 2019 selection.
So, the Lakers cannot trade a 2018 Houston 1st by losing the 2017 1st, as the outcome of the Lakers 2019 pick blocks that.

We wouldn've won more games if we didn't trade Lou. Right now we're sitting at 3rd worse - if we kept Lou we might be 4th or 5th.

Oh yeah, I was just clarifying that trading for another team's 1st fulfills the criteria. If they do keep their 1st this year and thus only lose the 2018 pick, they could trade either of their 2017 1st's in a deal. Seems unlikely at this point they would trade their 2017 top-3 pick, but who knows.
