New Guys -

Post#1 » by JohnVancouver » Thu Apr 6, 2017 12:21 am

I think I've seen enough that Tyler Ennis might have a future in the league, but it shouldn't be here. And Corey Brewer is ... terrible. Nwaba is looking good and if he can develop an outside shot to with his driving offense and D, nice pickup.

And can anyone tell me why TRob gets no run? He's been impressive as hell when he did

Ennis as a 3rd level backup in LA might not be bad.

TRob has been good but people think his defense is porous. I also think the Lakers FO is intending to sign him to a 2-3 year deal during the summer and dont want to showcase him too much so others team's wont throw more money at him.

Well...we have a bunch of young talent we're trying to give minutes to. We also signed a couple "A-listers" over last summer that I'm sure someone thought was gonna be good. So they of course got minutes as well. TRob was in a battle for the final spot on the roster, if you'll remember. He's a decent guy....but not worth sitting other guys over.

It's always really really hard for those last 3-4 guys on the bench to get minutes. And the scrutiny on them is much worse. If your a starter, you can diverge from what the coach draws up whenever you want. But if your TRob, or other guys in his position....good luck with that.

TRob is a nice player. But he's not really worth concerning time about.....because he's prob never going to get the minutes to show what he "coulda been" anyhow. It's the nature of the beast. He's 26.....and we're his 7th team. Never say die.....but yeah.

I'm not sure there is any value in looking at stats or judging the play of our team over the last couple of months. Some of these guys have been playing against opposing teams 3rd strings and we do seem to make a lot of blowouts close in the final 5 garbage minutes. On a team that is truly competing for 48 I'm not sure Ennis/Nwaba looks "this" good..... or a lot of our other players for that matter. They both are giving 100% effort but on a good team they are end of the bench types at best.

I'll bet that Nwaba and TRob are here next year. Please tell me Brewer is expiring. And as for Ennis, he's looked better the last few games. But man, every time I look at the court I think I'm seeing Jordan Farmer. Although Ennis doesn't really have the ears

Brewer isn't terrible at all.

He's a good defender who knows how to play the game. Knows when to cut, knows when to pass, etc. His only weakness is the fact he can't shoot 35% from 3. And if that's his only weakness, he certainly has a spot on a team.

I actually like Brewer, TRob, and Nwaba.
Ennis is at best a 3rd string guard in the NBA IMO.
But with the new regime (Magic and Pelinka) I'd be really surprised if there isn't a major overhaul and some of these guys will be gone be the start of next year.

We'll have to disagree. His D isn't all that from what I see, and he's out of control most of the time. Also possibly brain injured

If you can ever get Russell to stay off ball for consecutive possessions (he really hasn't been playing much SG at all), I'd start Ennis next year. Clarkson and Nwaba would be my two backup guards.

I'd try to dump Clarkson, but, if Paul George were really in play and he was going to be traded somewhere, I would probably keep Clarkson in a potential long term trade strategy.

I'd continue to start Clarkson, even though it's holding the team back, even start him, upping his value, until the 25th hour, where the Pacers inform the Lakers that he's being traded to Boston (or any other provocative destination that'll entice him to resign) unless the Lakers make good on the long standing offer of Randle and Clarkson (and sweeteners) for George.

If the George to L.A rumors have a shred of truth, George doesn't make All-NBA, and Randle and Clarkson are the difference between George being a Laker and George being a Celtic, you gotta start prepping for George now, preparing for what you would do as a team in that type of realistic scenario. I want George in free agency for free, but I know what I would do if I knew I was going to lose him to Boston unless I came off of Clarkson-Randle and fillers.

West didn't secure Shaquille on a whim. He prepared for the distinct possibility.

Nwaba is the better version of Brewer! We can't play two people that can't shoot. We need to replace Brewer with a good three point shooter.
