Well sh**...that's not so good. I suppose we can still use the Calderon pick(s) as trade chips. Next year we lose both our first and our second round. I'll be glad when all this crap is past us.

Future Draft Picks Summary:

Lakers 2017 Draft Picks:
1. #2 pick
2. #28 pick from Houston

We get 2 first rounders. We have no second rounder as Orlando takes it.

Lakers 2018 Draft Picks:
1. Second round draft pick from Denver

We do not own any first round pick in 2018 as our first rounder goes to Philly. Our second rounder goes to Orlando or Toronto. We are done with our debt to both Philly and Orlando. We get Denver's pick from Chicago for Calderone.

Lakers 2019 Draft Picks:
1. We keep our first round pick
2. We get Chicago's second round pick

We get one first rounder and one second rounder from Chicago. Our second round pick goes to Portland or Cleveland.

We have nothing more coming or going after 2019. Magic and Pelinka should work to add more assets where available and not take on unnecessary salary. I would like to see the Lakers mimic Danny Ainge or Sam Hinkie.

Our young guys just gotta take steps. Are we holding 4-5 future 'all-star' players? Prob not. Would it be fair to hope for two?

Three straight #2 picks, and a #6-7 (i always forget)....you'd call it kind of unlucky if you only got 1 all-star player. At least I'd think so. 2 is prob better than average....but not 'crazy odds'.

But at any rate.....the young core really needs to grow if we want to go anywhere. Our cap situation is what it is. P-George would make a giant step....but we would need 3 of him if we wanted to compete with the big-boys. So right now, we just gotta hope a couple of these guys take big steps this year. If Zubac, or Clarkson, or Nance become full-on contributors.....the more the merrier.

No crystal ball here....but my prediction is Russell and Randle are on the clock this season. Year 3. Impress Magic, or we're moving on. A little bit for Ingram too. He's gotta show substantial growth....or he becomes a piece. I think Magic plans to get a 'star player' next off-season no fail. Right now....I think Magic see's Ingram as the only legit 'baller' on our team. I know that ruffles some feathers....but we were the 2nd worst team in the league last year.....so if this guy is great, and that guy is great, and that guy is great....it don't add up. I think Randle and Russell aught to look at it like they are fighting for their jobs.
