He's got his issues but he's also got about as much talent as anyone who's ever played as well.
Superteams are here to stay. I don't like it one bit either but denying it is just that. I contend that Magic wasn't brought in to herd a bunch of recent draft picks to stardom. Jeannie and the other owners want back in the conversation and now. This was coming from the day we changed directions.... and this is a change in direction.
Question to the "base": Do we want a window of a year or two with "other team's players"? Or do we want to home grow it. Keep in mind that the past 4 eras of Laker greatness were a mix of established stars and home grown ones.
There is satisfaction in having a player like Kobe or Magic or even Worthy through their entire careers. And there probably wouldnt be the same devotion and fandom for a player you trade for. But even with that, I'd rather have 3 titles with Shaq than 1 (if that were even possible) with VanExel, Jones, Campbell, Divac etc. So I'd be on board acquiring LeBron and George for a shot at a title in the next 3 years. I'd prefer to keep Ingram and Ball for transitioning for the future but wouldnt be too broke up if they were traded for a 3rd piece that brought home the title.
