Penciled in to be the worst team in the West + without a draft pick and pray Paul George will look beyond the terrible season record.

I'm trying to be optimistic but it's not looking good.

We could have added George Hill, Waiters then added PG next year. We would become a decent team this year, possibly a playoff contender. Then next year with PG we would be a #4 to #6 team in the west which would be our ceiling.

Or

We could waste a year and let our youngsters grow. Save our cap space (thanks Jim and Mitch) then look to add 2 REAL MAX guys in 2018 summer when others do not have the money or cap space to compete.

Do you want instant but limited gratification this year or do you want for the FO to swing for the fences? All these good players that are signing to MAX or near max deals are going to haunt all the teams. The Lakers are waiting for real star players to give the max to.

"Real stars". Smh. 3 straight seasons with 50+ losses, worst team in the West this year and we're still playing the "we're above adding merely good players."

If they land 2 max guys, I'll come back and eat crow, and enjoy every second off it.

If the FO hadn't traded DLo, our team would have looked much better this season.

Maybe but I think Lopez will be a better offensive threat and producer than Dlo this year. Also, if we dont remove Moz, then we have no room in 2018 and might be scrambling to trade Moz/Deng/Clarkson and possibly Randle at the deadline or over next summer. Fans will think why did we wait until the end and have no room for negotiations. Too many problems with Moz, Deng and Clarkson from the old regime.

Do you think Clarkson is a financial liability? He has 35M left on his contract, which isn't a huge one. If Otto freaking Porter is going to sign a 150M contract, Clarkson should be getting the same at least

Yes. Financial Liability.

2 MAX guys = 60 million
Youth/Picks = 20 millions

We have around 20- 25 million more for the rest plus the vet min and others. Randle's contract is due, Clarkson is owed 12.5, and Deng is due 18. Two of Deng, Randle and Clarkson will be gone. I would prefer Clarkson and Deng gone and maybe give Randle a good contract if he becomes a beast. If Randle doesnt improve, then we pass on Randle and trade Deng while keeping Clarkson.

If Clarkson can be moved, he will by the deadline.

The amount of activity going on with us in Free Agency doesn't warrant 2 threads... Let's just use the stickied thread from now on.
