Sounds like we won't be using the room exception, and this will be the roster.
I'm extremely disappointed about that. I don't see why, in a season where we're allowed to win and tanking isn't an option, why you don't use every gun in your holster.
Doesn't make any sense.

maybe we're holding out for a mid-season move. we'll just have to wait and see.

There's no move to make that's gonna move the needle in anyway. All those guys are gone so why not rock with what they have. There's also the possibility they could sign someone during the year like the post above mentioned.

Room exception is still available, no? I don't think we're done with the roster yet. There will be more moves, I think. Ian Clark?

I like Ennis, think he can make significant progress with some minutes. No matter who our 2nd string PG is, he'll have to watch his back.

Re: Shelburne: Tyler Ennis back to Lakers on a 1 year minimum deal, 2nd year Team Option
In all seriousness, I would've preferred 1 more guaranteed year before the TO. Tyler has a lot of flaws: he's too small and unathletic to guard larger perimeter players, and he has yet to demonstrate any stand-out talent on offense. Yet in everyone's favorite meaningless late-season games, he demonstrated that his shooting isn't quite broken and that he can play make at a decent level. He averaged 7 points and 2.5 assists as the 3rd guard last year. Had he become cast into that role full-time this season, he would very likely have been able to repeat that or even give you 10 and 4 on 37% from 3 with a bunch of 18 and 7 games sprinkled in when filling in for injuries (think CoJo).
This'll probably never happen when you add KCP to the equation, but a 23 year old PG averaging 10 and 4 on the minimum is fairly liquid (though his perceived potential has likely been hurt by him bouncing around so much in his young career). You could add him to any Deng package or throw him in as a sweetner to Randle, Zubac and picks for a disgruntled "star" or a good vet on a tanking team. If he had one more year on his contract, you might have even gotten a second or two for him from a contender looking for some extra ball handling. While their young players are of a different caliber, there's a reason Denver is thrown into every trade rumor for a top 25 player as the "ideal partner". Throw enough **** on the wall and something will stick. Once it does, you've now decorated your wall for the price of ****, which is basically free. Hollis Thompson, KJ McDaniels and Tony Wroten didn't work out for the Sixers; Lord Covington did and now they have a real asset. Jae Crowder was thrown into a package with a first and second for Rondo; he is now a "sticking point" in negotiations for Jimmy Butler. Those are extreme and not super comparable examples of hidden value, but the point is that you never know who might become or get swapped for the asset that makes you the highest bidder for the next James Harden. Tyler will likely never get to that level of value, but he's the kind of guy you want to take a chance on. If only his deal was a little longer.
This is the reason I'm still bitter that the Lakers just gave up on Anthony Brown.
Deron would have helped push a 30 win Laker team into a 32 win Laker team, whatever that's worth to you. Ennis might just make a slight difference in the long run, whether that happens with him on the roster or through swapping him for something else. Plus, if you let him ride the pine, there's not going to be any drama. Benching D-Will on a lottery team = popcorn.gif
