I don't care about the god stuff but he does sound crazy. If he can positively impact the franchise I follow as a fan, I will ignore the serial killer shrine you know he has in his basement.

Magic is a weirdo too, but I recognize his value just being associated with the Lakers. If they can get the job done, whatever - doesn't mean I want to listen to either talk.

Robs jobs is to sell the team and create excitement around them, not just to fans but potential free agents and their agents as well. So I'm sure he's hyperbolic with what he says but the whole point is to create a buzz and excitement around the Lakers even though we'll suck again this year. This front office has a plan beyond stink and overpay Deng/Mozgov.

I don't give a **** what kind of nonsense comes out of Rob Pelinka's piehole, he wouldn't have done that.
Mitch did far more good for this team than Pelinka has so please let's quit the comparisons until Plink has been here for at least a year and actually signed somebody of note...lol

Actually quite amazing how quick folks are to throw one of the top NBA exec to ever manage a team under the bus and ignore all the good he did because of a coupe bad moves... every exec makes bad moves or has a player not live up to expectations, if you do it look enough it is going to happen, it's happened to the very best of them but to ignore years and years of good moves, great drafts, and a few trades by Mitch that were like pulling rabbits out of hats is just nonsense.

Back to the topic.. listening to Magic and Pelinka is like listening to a motivational tape, it's like they think if they keep telling us and themselves everything is fine and going according to plan with an upbeat "we got this handled, this is a new era" attitude that it'll all come true but in reality we are in the exact same place we have been the last few years and it feels like they're just trying to hide that fact behind their bravado.

I'm hoping they can get it done, it's a new NBA and new NBA players might not have the respect for the FO that the FO thinks they deserve. A lot of this reminds me of when Magic took over as head coach, all backslapping and showtime is back we're going to turn this around next season blah blah blah (I know I was excited) until it went south quickly and Magic quit in disgust after 16 games.

Relax. Nobody is question Mitch's legacy to the Lakers. Just that his time was done and he couldn't keep up with the modern NBA anymore at this point in time.

Dock you're reaching a bit here, at the end of the day all I care about is if Rob and Magic can get players here that can actually play ball at a high level. I'm not about to question his acumen on basketball or how intelligent he is. Hell after seeing what Kevin Pritchard did this summer.....he gotta be about the dumbest son of bitch of a GM as there is. If I were Herb Simon I would've fired his ass the minute I saw Oladipo and Sabonis was our return for PG.

Hell Rob can open his next presser with a line of..." You know I was in the backyard eating a spoon of dirt and the idea to trade for this player came to mind", if that got us an elite player...Rob eat all the damn dirt you want if it makes you smart. I don't care.

The city of Angles. Where bs talks and money walks. It's a cultural thing he's been brought up with. Somebody please explain to him that angelenos respect hard work and hard results. The tinsel and the talk is just the surface of the LA world. What's beneath is what made LA love the showtime Lakers — hard **** stick-to-it-tiveneess, and hard, shiny results. That's what he'll be judged on at the end of the day, nothing else. I don't care about his stories of excellence. I want to watch excellence on the court. Having said all that, I personally don't mind letting him babble away as long as it doesn't get too Kumbayá.

Pritchard acutally took a worse trade to spite the Lakers haha lol. it's laughable. what a dumb trade.

Rob will be applauded in here very simply by bringing in the two superstars he said he would get. if he doesn't get them then hey Lakers fans are going to roast him. I seem to be of the opinion with their young team they still will be competitive and will be able to still compete. if you gotta sign Lopez then that's what you gotta do.

Lopez has a 33.5 millions cap hold that makes all but guaranteed we'll not resign him in any case.

Mitch said way crazier things. Look at this quote:

“Timofey is a player who has shown the ability to change the game at the defensive end, and fills an area of need for us at the center position,” said Kupchak. “We are very pleased to add him to our team.”

The idea that Mozgov can change anything defensively is laughable to me, much more ridiculous than KCP being a great player

Too bad the press conference is nowhere to be found on the internet anymore

Forget the press conference...I woulda liked to have been there 12:01

Cigars? You think they blasted Journey's "dont stop believing"? Perhaps Santana's "Winning"?

What's the over/Under on fist-pumps during the conference call (you know Moz had to have a couple himself)?

Never cared what Mitch had to say and I don't care what Rob has to say.

If free agents buy into it then I could care less how many cliches and cringe worthy statements he uses to get them.

I swear, most people don't read previous posts in the thread on this forum..

Usually a forum is for people to have a discussion on different viewpoints, not to just post your thoughts on the OP 3 pages in that is essentially the same thing said by someone else like 6 posts up on the same page.

Is this in response to someone else? don't think my original post had anything to do with his intelligence or acumen on basketball.

When Mosgov hung up the phone with the Lakers him and his agent had more of a turn up then when he won the championship with the Cavs. it must have been like can you believe those idiots actually went for it. I didn't think they would actually sign it.

Call Luol Yo Luol they just gave me 55 mill you better get them on the phone real talk okay!!!! Mitch and Jim over the hill NBA players . You get a Max. You get a Max. you get a Max.

Not sure if this is reference to me, but I thought the thread mostly ran its course. I just posted what I thought was an interesting quote kind of to say that most GMs say crazy things every time they sign a player.

NO, and STAY OFF MY LAWN!!

j/k but no it wasn't you (at least not in this thread :) ), that was good post. It was just more of a general observation that had been clawing at me for a bit...I probably should have just led/lead by example instead of posting that rant though.
