Can someone clear-up our draft situation

Post#1 » by LakerLegend » Thu Nov 30, 2017 7:59 pm

Realgm says:

2018 - 1 and 6-30 to PHL (via PHX); 2-5 to BOS (via PHX to PHL)

https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/team

So Philly will get our pick if it doesn't fall into the Boston parameters? First I think I'm seeing this.

Another reason to win as many games as possible, we can all agree we'd rather have Philly get the pick.

The pick is gone, wishing Boston bad luck isn't worth wasting your time worrying about.

Future's bright. We'll get back to the top sooner or later.

The pick was suppose to convey to Philly but they decided Fultz was worth the draft pick plus Tatum. The Phillies traded #3 pick (Tatum) plus either the Lakers pick or next year's Sacramento pick to Boston for the right to #1 pick (Fultz) who has been injured all season long.

Boston gets the Lakers pick if it falls between 2-5 this year and if not then Phillies get it while Boston gets the 2019 pick from Sacramento.

2018 draft pick situation:

Our first rounder goes to either Philly or Boston.
Our second rounder goes to Orlando.

We pickup a second rounder from Denver.

I thought there was an NBA rule where you have to have at the very least your first or your second pick, you could not trade both of the same year. I think our 2019 second round pick goes to Orlando Am I wrong?

I dont think there is a rule on losing both your first and second rounder in any given year. There is a rule where you cannot trade away consecutive year FIRST rounders. Therefore, if the Lakers want to trade away their next first rounder, the earliest year they can trade is the 2020 pick since the 2018 is going to either Philly or Boston.

As for the Orlando's pick, the Lakers give them both 2018 and 2019 second rounder.

The moment the 2018 pick conveys (draft night), the Lakers can trade their 2019 1st round pick again.

Not before draft night though, though things can be negotiated and arranged

Or we could trade for someone else's 2018 1st (like how we got the Kuzma pick), then we could trade our 2019 1st at any time.

Our 1st and 2nd are gone this year because of the Dwight Howard and Steve Nash trades. (Orlando gets a couple 2nds instead of a 1st because of the lakers picking top 3 for several seals and Keeping the protection)

We picked up a couple 2nd rounders to take Calderon.
One this year. One next
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

Who cares about the 1st rounder. It's gone. We got Randle, Russell, Ingram, Ball. We kicked the can down the road and got lucky enough to get those picks.

Credit Phoenix, Orlando, Boston and Philadelphia for having competent front offices.

It's the freaking Celtics. The last thing I want to see is our hated rivals, already ascendant to begin with, landing another high lottery pick in a loaded draft.

Yeah, but I'm with Dr Aki. It's not worth the energy. We're just a year or two behind them and the GSW will shut them down until then.

Defense, is what will get us to where the Cs don't get that pick. That's my worry area.

We’re light years behind the Celtics. They’ve got the NBA’s best record despite an injured All-Star. We aren’t even going to make the playoffs.

I agree, dude.

I'm killing myself enough over this team. I just can't be worried about any other franchises and how our awful decisions have benefitted them.

Still early in the season to count us out. But I don't blame you after this losing streak.

Boston is in the top of playoff contenders especially in the east.
Lakers are trying to get that #8 spot.

Those are the fact but I think we are going to start closing the gap and soon.
