This could also mean they are about to pull the trigger on a trade that brings back some salary short term with a pick in exchange for Randle and JC. Ala Kenneth Faried etc.

Indeed, if you wanted to let Gilbert know you're not gonna trade your whole team for LBJ, this would be a good way of doing it. I don't think we'll make a move before TD.

Focus should still be PG and resigning Randle. If we can get a pick out of JC, then pull the trigger. Wait until 2019 and try to offload Dung since his contract will be a lot better to deal with.

I am just going to throw this out here, after the failures we have had in the last five years or so in free agency, do we really think we can poach star players from San Antonio and GSW? Those are two of the finest run organizations in sports and they won't lose their star to free agency. Not to mention, how is Klay better than PG or LBJ? Kawhi and Klay won't get us anywhere near championship level.

I mean we did beat a Thunder team with our squad as it is and Warriors got blown the hell out by the same squad. Maybe doing nothing is the way to go?

I'll be honest I never sincerely thought we'd get anyone in 2018 free agency and I also don't think we'll get anyone notable in 2019. I thought maybe we'd get PG13 cuz of his LA connection, but that's it. All star free agents don't join losing teams anymore regardless of the whole "playing in LA" thing. But honestly, i'm cool with it. Build through our young players and build through the draft. Ride or die with our young guys. Seems like the way to do it nowadays.

“Well, I mean I'm happy here,” George said. “I'm happy here. I'm happy with this group. At the end of the season, it's still on my decision on what I need to do for my family. That has nothing to do with my happiness here though. I've been really happy. It's a great organization to be a part of, but again, you know, I don't want people looking at this and (saying) like, 'Hey, because he said it's his happiness at the end of the day (that he’s definitely re-signing).

“I don't know if whether I'm going to LA, or what I'm going to do this offseason. But I can say I am happy about being here. I'm happy with playing with Russ, happy with playing with Melo, and this organization. This front office has shown what they can do to go get pieces and how active they are about winning.”

I mean at this point it's getting silly....I feel like he has no reason to say stuff like this unless there atleast a significant chance that he might bolt at the end of the year. it's almost like he made his last statements, and realized people in OKC are now saying "Look he's staying for sure! he wouldn't say that if he wasn't staying! he didn't need to say any of that....he's happy he's staying" and PG is like wait wait wait waiiiiit If I leave now I'm going to have two former franchises that hate me maybe I should do some damage control.

What he doesn't realize is that the more he talks about it, the more he's hurting his image in the long run, one way or another. I feel like for the first time in this whole mess, I actually do believe that he's undecided regarding what he's going to do. It's funny though....a lot of the stuff he says, he really has no reason to stay, towards both sides. It's almost like he's loving all the attention, or he's just a big dummy.

Edit: Also, it really seems like he's the hot girl in high school that's stringing along multiple dudes..."Brad is a great guy! I couldn't be happier with him, but at at the end of the day, maybe John can provide a better future for me....I'm with brad right now...and htat's all that matters. But me and John will always have this attraction between us...we'll always have this chemistry. But I couldn't want anything more than what I have right now with Brad! Oh by the way, I only broke up with Steve last year because I didn't want to hurt him anymore....I did it cause i cared. I'm so glad he's happy with Jessica now....just like how I'm so happy with Brad. We'll see what the future has in store for me and John, but I'm happy with Brad now!"

Like goddamn bro....if Im Brad, John, or Steve, I would be furious with this chick.

The only real move of pressing concern this deadline is seeing what we can fetch with Clarkson. Basically we're looking for expiring + 2nd, so that if on the hail mary chance we can attract 2 max FAs, we stretch Deng and renounce half of the roster, thus freeing up the needed space. Getting PG13 alone would be a huge coup especially as we preserve max cap space for 2019 (Randle QO and stand pat via signing 1 year deals for the rest of the space). In fact thats pretty much what i'm hoping for as it gives us the best of both worlds, 1 star to attract others, Randle an expiring trade piece, several 1 year FAs to trade off, and Deng with 1 less year to stretch in 2019/20 offseason (his cap hit going from 36/5 to 18/5 which would be huge).

Lou Will's extension bodes well for us as that takes him out of the trade market leaving Clarkson as the best bench gunner. Clarkson is such an easily replaceable imo, but hopefully his recent hot play will entice someone to throw something of value at us.

2019 crop is much better for long term building... rather have Klay Thompson than anyone available this summer including Lebron

i'd prefer Kawhi Leonard also but come on now, if we can get George and DMC i see no reason why they shouldn't be going all out for them.

Also It would be kind of bad to do George like that unless he's phoned Magic and said he's staying in OKC.

its not like 2019 is some kind of superclass. The only big names i could see leaving are Kawhi and Klay, obviously Kawhi should be target #1 and Klay is fantastic but is Klay better than P.G. neccesarily?

Yeah... I think he stays if he feels like they're really close, but if they lose in the first round (50/50 shot IMO), or get bombed in the 2nd round (high likelihood IMO), then he's bolting. I mean, we already know the guy wants to be in LA...

Paul George is a much better player than Klay Thompson..are we being serious right now? He's also a year older than Paul George. 2019 Klay will be 29 years old. Everything about free agency max guys is win now.
