Re: Isaiah Thomas Thread
Celtic Fan Here Just Giving You Guys some info on what we thought was the problem, way back when, and how IT handled his situation.
If Thomas ends up needing surgery (he was 29 in February), well, then he made a Bad choice going with rest and strengthening of the muscles/ligaments/tendons in the hip area.
What I don't fully understand is every time I look at a picture of his affliction (classical photo, based on his condition last June), it seems like stitching it up should work. The generic pictures make it look like part of the hip bumper separated. Sort of like if your right front shock absorber mounting is loose.. If you tighten two or three bolts, the shock absorber mount is rigidly attached to the chassis, and the shock absorber functions as it should. But with those attaching bolts loose, the whole assembly wobbles, and the shock absorber is not able to dissipate the bumps and holes you run over on the road.
It just seems to me that all of Thomas' treatment did not address the core issue of separation of the hip bumper from the hip itself, which means that he may end up having surgery to stitch up the separation eventally. Sort of like sewing a torn piece of clothing to close the gap. I know Thomas insists that no doctor told him that he had to have surgery, but if you are just going to walk around, you probably don't HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY. If you are going full speed and then try to switch direction 45 degrees, and then try to jump to the rim and land on one foot, well, then you PROBABLY NEED TO HAVE THAT GAP (Separation) closed.
Now we know that the initial diagnosis may not have addressed the actual ailment, and that may be why Thomas regrets returning to play in the playoffs last year. Stitching the hip bumper back to the hip would have eliminated the instability (and pain) and stabilized the area in question. Like when you park your car, if you bang your front or back bumper, it's no big deal. But if the bumper had an inch of loose play and you tapped it when parking, everything would wobble and feel like a crash, and do more damage than you would normally get. What remains to be seen is how he was advised back in May/June, when he could have had surgery around the beginning of June. That would be interesting to know. But the Cavs would have had all this info, and x-rays and MRI's available to them, before the deal went down, just like the Lakers did when they traded Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance, Jr. for IT and a First Round Pick.
So it's a case of what did Thomas know, and when did he know it? But he may have made the wrong choice in not having surgery a year ago, and this may simply be a manifestation of his bad decision.
Don't Flame me, I'm just saying what we had heard last summer right around the time IT got traded to Cleveland.

Not flipping him after the trade may have been Pinklowe's first, if relatively minor, blunder.

Agree. We got what we wanted out of the deal. We also got to 'kick the tires' and see if maybe....
Hard to hate on a guy who's fought the law of averages like IT, but I think this will ultimately turn out to be Boston's "linsanity".
We got our pick....we move on. Looking forward to our FA-window. Best of luck to Thomas.

So glad he's hurt. Lonzo looks worlds better when IT isn't in the lineup.

His value was that of salary filler, can’t really “flip” that.

Addition by subtraction. It would've made basketball sense and long term sense to just drop him so the young ones could get some minutes.

Re: Isaiah Thomas Thread
I feel for Isaiah. I really do. Hopefully he gets healthy and is the type of player he wants to be again.
Selfishly, I hope it's on the Lakers as I think he adds a different element to this team that's needed offensively.

Come on man, as bad as he is, it’s never right to wish for an injury on a player. Nobody deserves to go through an injury especially someone like IT who seems like a decent guy off the court and does a lot of work for the community.

Re: Isaiah Thomas Thread
I kinda hope IT is back because I don't want LeBron James having any imprint on the Los Angeles Lakers. I guess we really will see if the dude is washed up or not after the procedure and rehab.

sadly this, i don't think there are that many combo guards/P.G's that we could have traded him for that were expiring.
