To me a complete offensive player is one who also creates and gets to the foul line. Kyle doesn't really do that yet. But yes, he's got the potential to be a pretty solidly efficient scorer and good/excellent 3-point shooter, and that's a great find at the bottom of the first round.

Relative to his position, his assist rate is not bad. He's also being shoehorned into being a microwave scorer ever since we lost Clarkson and since then Isaiah Thomas. The free throw rate is an area for improvement but skill wise I don't see him missing anything.

No first step... Has a hard time creating space off the dribble. He's great in the open floor and off a screen but he's not great creating a shot for himself is a set. In those situations, he's mainly successful if he can use his length and shoot over the defender... Really the only marginal missing skill I see. I think a real NBA offseason in the gym will fix that.

Defense is another matter... He's just not that good on D right now.

I think his first step is fine. Its going to look average because he's being defended by 3s and he's playing out of position at 3 but as a stretch 4, he can either rise up and drill a 3 over a smaller guy or blow right buy a bigger 4.

His true value is going to show up by getting him on switches on both sides of the ball on pick and rolls and using his versatility.

He will make the odd nice pass every now and then, but it's still not in his DNA. I don't think he's being shoehorned as a scorer so much as that's what he's best and most comfortable at. And to be clear, that's perfectly fine; if he can consistently do what he did last month, if not from a raw number standpoint then at least in terms of efficiency, that's a fantastic asset. I just don't think "complete offensive player" when I watch Kyle play.

As far as offense goes he's a rare player. He's shown he can score from every distance, score in isolation, score with his back to the basket and score going to the basket. For a guy coming into the league he's as complete offensively as anyone I can remember skill/fundamental wise.

Defensively he's still a work in progress however he has the foot speed and quickness to stay in front of 3's and the size to play the 4. He's shown some decent instincts as times as well. He gets a rap by some here but he's as good or better overall than Hart IMHO who is very limited in who he can guard for example. Defense is a team aspect to the game and I believe he has the skills and ability to play within a scheme at a very high rate. Keep in mind he's typically been playing long minutes and has been with different lineups almost nightly as we deal with injuries.

He gives us a true scorer which we've missed for a few years. The problem is that he's a starter in this league and can play positions that Ingram and Randle currently have. If we get PG and Bron he's further down the depth chart. This is why I can see him as the trade bait to rid us of Deng. In a year or 2 I believe he could be every bit if not more valuable than Ingram overall and provide which ever team he's on with a true go to scorer which Ingram isn't. He's a little like Harden behind Westbrook of a few years ago.

Kuzma and Randle have somehow become my favorite players on this team. They just play with a ton of confidence and as they continue to develop, that confidence will inspire solid leadership.
