Voted 37-41 too. Close but still satisfied, if it weren't for the injuries and bad rotations we could realistically hit 40 win mark.

No one saw Kuzma coming and his play put us over the top is several games this year. For all the new faces in new places and the line up changes 35 is a very nice jump. Couldn't ask for more IMHO.
And your low number by 10 games... in the interest of full disclosure.
Well..... yeah.... my low number would be lower than my high number. Ya got me there.

Damn I was off by 1 game!!!!

We did get a few wins thanks to the tank, like that dallas game they intentionally lost. But yeah i was very wrong about the health;)

Re: How many games will Lakers win? Make the Playoffs?
Here was my post, kinda apocalyptic in a way because while I was off but not by much some of what I said happened. The Jazz did struggle but found themselves, I was spot on about Memphis and while Portland made it and Denver didn't they did struggle during stretches of the season also.DEEP3CL wrote:Agree with some of these Big Game, but the Jazz and Memphis will struggle mark my words...iamworthy wrote:Teams better than the lakers in my opinion:
Warriors
Houston
Spurs
Clippers
Jazz
OKC
Memphis
Portland
Denver
Minnesota
The Jazz lost 37 points scored per night by Hayward and George Hill, with that roster that will be extremely hard to make up. As for Memphis their window has close and their style of play is outdated. And now more pressure is on Conley and Gasol to really carry the load and avoid injury in the process. These two teams can easily fall out of the playoff race and be replaced.
i think 6 spots are locked in, but 2 spots will be battles. Media and fans hype Portland and Denver but these teams are fragile also, meaning they too have to avoid injury and most find a more consistent groove to play. Both of them have stretches where they're beatable.
But I'm good with our progress, no need to rush a playoff berth when it's clearly the Warriors frame...let'em ride another year of a tough playoff run and that's better for us in the long run, age and money is what is going to kill them off.
And my last part about the Warriors is also about to come true, money is about to break them apart and injury also.
That said the Lakers met my expectations, I thought they could win close to 40 and in reality they should have if not for injury and just being too damn young at the start of the year. We lost 5 OT games...40 was very doable.

^^but youth was a given and injury is a part of every season. if ifs and buts were candy and nuts.....
I was on the lower end of the predictions mainly because of the fact that we had an entirely new team save Clarkson, Ingram and Randle and were going to start a rookie at a very important position. Kuzma is the wild card that got us over 30 wins IMHO and I don't think anyone saw him coming. We could have won another 4 or 5 games but can't every team say that?

Had em at 33 and I called that optimistic. They ended up winning 35. I’m happy.

There are a number of reasons why this team won more than 30 games. Kuzma might have been 5th or 6th in terms of importance why.
1a Randle
1b Ingram/Ball (if not for injuries they would have shared the title for 1a)
4 KCP (his early gunning was frustrating but he ended up having a nice season by the end)
5 Kuzma or Hart (I like Hart more but he was hurt so I’d be willing to give the nod to Kuzma)
Numbers rule the universe.

Start with your 2nd paragraph: Yes....I had them pegged for 35-40 wins. Injuries were a bummer, and we really had a poor stretch (followed by an equally amazingly good stretch). We lost all semblance of defense for a bit there, and then got it back.
The kid's a rookie, so I am not hating on the guy even slightly....but I did think Ball would do more for the team. Missing 30 games, and his horrific shooting were not things I expected. Put your stones down, Ball-army.....I still think the kid's gonna be great. But I think we can all agree we thought he'd have a better rookie year, no?
As to the first paragraph....It will be interesting to see what happens. Durant will get his....so it will all come down to Klay. Is he gonna fold like a chump, and get paid half of what he's worth, or will he say screw this, and go get value? If Klay does leave....we need to grab that guy.
My "Dream scenario" for the Lakers (totally unreal) would be A-Davis, and Klay. Ball, Klay, Ingram, Randle, Davis. Have Hart, Kuz, Lopez off the bench. Would have Kuz sorta be our "harden 6th man"....not a starter....but certainly a finisher, who gets 30+ min.
I think Klay fills a needed position much better than PG. PG and Ingram are gonna be fighting for the same air. We'll make it work, Im sure....but Klay would fit much better.

Randle and Ingram were EXPECTED to take a step this year. That wasn't a surprise. The opposite would have been a surprise.
Ball was atrocious in the early part of the year.
Kuzma was not only the biggest reason we won several games early in the season he was probably the league's biggest surprise. Putting him with Hart and behind KCP is nuts. Hart will be a bit player off the bench on a contender.... Kuzma has the potential to be the leading scorer on one.
