^Agreed.

The Lakers are in the best position right now. And there's no rush. The superteam is inevitable. .

George's best bet in the Lakers. Why would George lock himself into a team that can't beat the Warriors? Melo's opting in pretty much ruined OKC's chances to keep George. If George does a 2-year deal to be eligible for the 35% max, he'll do it for the money - and then we don't want him anyways. And we won't have that money in 2020. So let's say George does a 1+1. Well, he'll be available next summer then, after another disappointing year in OKC.

And, Lebron isn't going to sign long term with anybody outside of a superteam in L.A. If he goes back to Cleveland, it'll be a 1-year deal because the Cavs are capped out until 2020. But I really doubt he will - the Cavs were badly outmatched. I would like to see him sign for the midlevel exception in Houston. That would be hilarious.

And if Kawhi gets traded, he'll be available next summer. Yeah, we miss out on his sweet 20m this year, but I'm starting to balk at losing Ingram just to get Kawhi a year early.

The truth is, aside from a healthy Kawhi, these guys are replaceable (and forget old Lebron anyways). Klay will possibly be available next summer. Even if we don't get Klay or George, Ingram is making nothing until after 2020. Both Anthony Davis, and Giannis will be available as free agents while all our core is still under rookie contracts.

I don't think there's a rush at all. I want to see if our young core can improve for one more year. This is the most critical year for all NBA players, the 2nd and 3rd year. For great players, the jump happens then.

I want to see the Lakers take on salary dumps for picks this year. And not indiscriminately. Take on salary dumps that have a chance of yielding a pick themselves - think about what value a rehabilitated stretch-four Wilson Chandler would have? Double down and get two firsts out of that dump.

I also want to see Lebron struggle for another year. I bet the huge slide in defense isn't a fluke. I want to see if 31-year-old Steph Curry slows down at all too. I want to see if Draymond Green become available if the Warriors prioritize Klay's extension, especially since Draymond Green clearly that he prefers Luke Walton to Steve Kerr, whom he feels stifles him and under appreciates him. He said Steve Kerr hates him. Draymond loves Luke, though.

The superteam is inevitable. It's going to happen this summer, or next summer. If we need to add a final third, we can wait even after that. That's the benefit of youth.
