Man, if Magic does fire Luke to take over ... that’s some New York Knicks type sh*t. Time will tell if we’re on the right track but man, reactionary nonsense like this doesn’t exactly instill me with a lot of confidence.

Hopefully next year we can get Cousins on a 2 year deal with 2nd year being team option have him starting then keep Mcgee as back up :)

C) Cousins/Mcgee :) would be my dream and if we can keep Chandler for 3rd option for vet - I'd get wet

Absolutely no reason for Luke to leak it. Magic on the other hand has a couple of reasons for leaking it.

First, may be he felt his message didn’t get through and wanted to put additional pressure in Luke. After all, the meeting happened before the Mavs game and the Mavs game was quite concerning.

Second, Magic wanted to continue the fruitful relationship he’s developed with Woj. No secret that the front office started leaking to Woj soon as they got the job in exchange for positive spin and controlling the narrative around the team. Things are going slightly south so gotta get Woj ready to spin things in a positive way down the road if needed.

I mean, two days Woj also gets the Chandler news first. Magic getting Woj ready to spin like only Woj can.

Absolutely. Woj has been in the picture ever since Magic was hired.

Honestly, what a bunch of BS.
If someone who has the power to fire you decides to cuss you out about your job performance, of course it has some type of bearing on your job security.

If it doesn’t have a bearing on your job security, then why the need to lose all professionalism and cuss out your subordinate.

Isn’t that implying that Luke will get fired in the offseason?

I'm starting to wonder if Magic didn't honestly think once we got LeBron, we were instantly a championship team, despite what he said in the media.

I'm sure he was hoping for a better start.

Luke isn't Magic's guy so I think the fuse will be short here. To be fair.... the parts of the game where coaching matters are not good right now. No defense and the half court offense looks like something I run in the Chandler City league with a bunch of has been college guys....

This is what I worried about with Magic. They’ve done great so far with the roster upgrades to say the least. Rondo? McGee? Stephenson? They’ve drafted well. On paper. “We’ve done our part, fingers are pointing at you now, Luke”. I get it.

But, at the slightest first hiccups tendencies by a roster with eight new players on it, Magic is backing up his own vanity and LBJ’s before backing his own head coach. After nine games with 7 game suspensions to two key players? Weak sauce, not tough love.

For the record, I have full confidence in Luke. The guy is a brilliant basketball mind.

If only LBJ could give Luke the benefit of a doubt and trust that Luke’s lineage and brains and experience in winning could help LBJ win.

Bill Walton, Coach Wooden, Phil Jackson, Tex Winter, Steve Kerr is some pedigree for LBJ to ignore on defense.

He doesn’t want to play Luke’s defense. I base that on how he plays defense so far this season, or rather how he doesn’t. The kids still don’t know how yet, but LBJ isn’t even trying.

I say lock the starting five in the video room with Luke and Rondo. Let Rondo, (another brilliant basketball mind) help Luke tell them where they need to improve. He’ll tease LBJ into giving effort, get under his skin as a fellow veteran.

My solution to keeping Luke, which is what I want:
LBJ buys into Luke’s defense, plays team with his coach.

That’s the message Magic should be sending. To LBJ, not to Woj.

Crazy conspiracy thought.... you guys think Magic hired Rambis to his staff in order to have a "Coach in waiting" should Luke not get the job done.. the Rambis hire always struck me as odd and this would totally be a Magic type of move : getting the band together.

I love Rambis as a player but hes failed trying to resell the triangle around the league. If Luke's job really is in jeopardy. Who is the coach to replace him?? If they're now putting pressure on Luke because Lue is available, or for Rambis... I'd rather keep Luke than those two coaches... theres no one really out there that I'd want... it's all damaged goods

Keep and eye on Magic himself.

I want Luke to get a fair shake but he's not helping himself at all. Our half court offense is the stuff of Jr High and the lack of defensive scheme other than switch everything is maddening. The players can only be blamed for so much.... when you have a stretch of 6 minutes where the matchup is Kuzma or Ingram on Ibaka or Valanciunas you have to question the preparation and lack of adjustments by the coach.

The switch everything is a horrible approach and has resulted often in our guards in the paint guarding bigs when the shots go up. Our rebounders are out at the 3 point line and we give up offensive rebounds. We can continue to blame the players but my thoughts are that you want your best rebounders and big guys in the paint when shots go up.... but then again I'm an old fashioned guy I guess....

The Rambis hire was weird as hell, IMO... Could have been as a future assistant to Magic... But Magic sucks balls as a coach (can't figure out why players can't play like him and Kareem). And Rambis isn't a whole lot better (too passive)...

My personal conspiracy theory is that the 'Admonishment' and how crappy we played against Toronto was all a show to convince Kawhi, we "NEED" him, and set him up to be the savior/future face of the franchise...
KL seems to have cooled on us since we got LeBron and maybe it's because he wants to go somewhere and be the guy.

Problem with that, was that I think Lawry came into this game with a clear desire to embarrass us and convince Leonard that if he wanted to win, he's much better off staying in Toronto... Something I feel like he did quite effectively, unfortunately.

WTF Magic???

7 games in with 8 new players on the roster and you're gonna cuss out Luke. GTFO. It's not like you built the perfect roster and now the coach has to win every game. Magic needs to chill the eff out. Luke has made mistakes for sure but give it time to figure it out. Even the famously impatient Laker faithful aren't up in arms about Luke and this start. Don't know what got Magic so riled up. What's he expecting, the 2nd seed?

The worst thing than the unprofessional way in which Magic allegedly behaved is that it was all leaked, down to the details. That's messed up. Ya'll saw Luke's face before the Toronto game in the interviews. It was more shock than anything.

I wouldn't be surprised if Luke walked away himself. I hope this isn't the start of a ****. Losing Luke and then getting someone like Lue or god forbid Rambis or Byron would be NYK basketball.

Yeah.. good coaches or hard to come by... great coaches are even rarer as they never become available. Teams lock up great coaches (like Pop) until retirement. Up and coming Star coaches like Brad Stevens and Sean McVay for Rams are ideally what you want. I just dont see Magic having the new age fortitude to roll the dice and hire a new coach from the college ranks or even from the assistant realm. I just know that Luke's young age and inexperience causes magic to not be all in on him. If Magic were to impose change in the coaching realm I'd prefer if he had Luke hire an assistant coach that had a strong sense of Xs and O's and/or was heavily analytical. Something that Luke sorely lacks. Luke's ATO plays are terrible and his offensive schemes are as basic as they get.

With that said though, I'd still rather have Luke as the coach rather than what's available on the open market right now.. for those calling for Luke's job.. who would you want to replace him with???
