He'll get the keys next to Caruso and Newman for the South Bay Lakers

Yeah, but roster spots are valuable and he's taking up an actual roster spot. Caruso and Newman are on 2 ways. If Bonga was on a 2 way contract, that would be totally different.

Sorry, I don’t see what’s so special about this kid. Yeah he is 18, but he is no where near cracking the third of spot on the south bay Lakers.

I didn’t see enough to believe. Not in SL. It could be an adjustment thing, getting used to speed and size before being able to showcase what he’s all about. Hopefully he’ll look better in training camp and pre-season than in SL.

I want to call him silent m. But there’s no m. Exactly.

Silent M 2.0!

Sorry but had to make a few guys eat crow.

After a disastrous summer showing where Bonga made most of us question why the FO picked him over Milton and Melton, Bonga in a few month has jump into high ceiling potential prospect who stands 6'9" and has point guard handles and vision. He should get a ton of minutes with SB Lakers and hopefully show us why Buss, Pelinka loved this kid.

Give the kid 2-3 years to develp and mature, I think he will be a good player.

Mentored by LeBron and Rondo and growing with Ball. This should be fun.

He went from "Who the hell..." to, "Hmm, not too bad..." for me in the last couple games... So that's something.

He looks like one of our better end of the bench players at the moment. I like what he does in transition.

It's going to be tough for him to learn the missing fundamentals from his game at the pro level. This is finishing school.... not primary school. He's athletic but so is just about everyone else. He needs a lot of work.

He's going to carve a spot out for himself in the league through the defensive end. I see a lot of good things happening on that end for him. He defends point guards with a lot of effort and he's got the size and length to switch onto any position the way Luke likes.

I take it you missed the game against GSW.

He flashed a ton of potential. Still have an inclination to move the feet before the ball but
has shown a ton of progress from summer league. I think a full year in SB Lakers will do him
real good. Then he can fight for a partial bench spot next season.

He is 6'9" and good enough to lead the point plus play wing with good vision and IQ.
I like that he focuses on defense and is a good FT shooter.

Lakers FO liked him so much they offered him a 3 year deal then in 2021-2022 he turns RFA.
Smart gamble there by Pelinka.

Good improvement compared to SL. Looks like he’s NBA material after all. He makes his FTs. He plays defense with intensity. Good handles. Good vision. Just very young and raw, but I like the potential of his game. At that height...

Superb size and length, he can get to the rim pretty easy, but he has to work on his J if he wants to have a future in the NBA.

Nope.... wrote this after watching it. To me, he looks like a raw athlete who lacks a bunch of fundamentals. One and done guys at the top of the draft struggle to close the development gap who are a long way ahead of him.

He made a few plays late in a preseason game where NBA front line players were being rested.

I hope he can get the coaching necessary to fill in the basics but that’s not what pro teams do...or are even set up to do.

The best thing for him would be the G league for a while.

His shot looked so smooth from the FT line. Did he take a jumper? I have a feeling he might have a good form jump shot. Attacking rim? No problem. Defense? Check.

G-League for half a season would be great.

He is definitely a project, but a player that just might turn out really good in a few years.
