Lebrons Handle

Post#1 » by XXBKXX » Mon Nov 12, 2018 7:02 pm

Is absolutely terrible. I've never noticed this before when he was in the east but then again I never really cared to watch many of his games and pick up the little nuances like now..

Either way, one of the things that surprised me most about Brons game so far is his loose handle. He often fumbles the ball.. sometimes he will lose it dribbling by himself in clutch moments.. other times he will get stripped driving .. its terrible to see.

Has this always been a part of Brons game or is this just something new popping up this year for some reason?

I've seen Kobe do this all the time but it is a given if handling the ball a lot.

It's been this way since his rookie year. A buddy of mine used to joke he we would steal the ball from Lebron just about every time if they played each other.

He hasn't been a point guard who tries to break down a defense with his dribbling. His handle is very good for his size and position as a forward, like Lamar Odom or Ben Simmons. Part of the problem is that taller players expose the ball longer on the dribble, and it's also harder on the body to keep the dribble low.

But yeah, I do think he is struggling a bit more this season with his handle, because he no longer can shift speeds nor change directions. So, it's harder to be crafty. He's only got the step-back. That's it.He used to have an inside-out dribble, crossover, hesitation, but they're all just about gone - right now he's limited to north-south rim runs.

Over the course of this season, I think he (and the team) has adjusted by having Lebron more of a finisher after somebody else breaks down the defense. The Hawks game really showed the limitation of Lebron at the top of the key in a spread offense. This won't/hasn't worked, because it usually ends up Lebron launching a three, forcing a drive that he's converting at the worst rate since his rookie season, or getting fouled - also bad.

Father time. What you guys are seeing is how Lebron plays when he is fatigued (in the regular season, especially on short rest). When he starts turning the ball over, or settling for long threes, or struggling to blow by older / bigger players in ISO's, that happens like clock work when he gets tired. Seen it many, many times. This is where the decline has started, he can be "Lebron" but only for shorter and shorter periods of time. And I think the pace you guys play at makes him fatigue even more quickly.

In the playoffs, with 2+ days rest and a slower pace, this is much less of an issue.

^ Agree with last two posts. Which is why I think we should have a slow and a fast lineup. Not two mixed bags of old and young relying on LBJ slow walking the ball while Lonzo needs to run.

Ball, Hart, Ingram, Kuzma, JMG
Rondo, KCP, Stephenson, LBJ, Chandler

Switch all five at a time, force opposing coach to react.

It’ll save LBJ’s knees, and one more huge thing:

It’ll unleash Lonzo .
Since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

PG: Luka / Vincent / Bronny
SG: Smart / Reaves / Knecht / Mañon
SF: LaRavia / Rui / Thiero
PF: Bron / Vando / Kleber
C: Ayton / Hayes / Koloko

Or trade him. If you’re trying to cover up for a 40m a year player, you messed up

Did you just advocate to bench Lebron... so we can "unleash Lonzo" ??!?!?

I've never seen a person get labeled a "G.O.A.T" player that cannot cross a player up. I just don't get it...

You don't get it because your "feelz" won't let you. Protect Kobe man. protect! He has crossed people up countless times. Is he as good as a ball handler as Irving, Curry, Iverson, or hell I'd even say, Kobe? No. But for his size, he's great. Though, as someone said earlier, father time seems to be catching up to him, when it comes to certain parts of his game, ball handling being one of them.

What an odd criteria for evaluating a GOAT level player.

Lebron has never needed to cross anyone up, just have sharp enough handles to get by his man.

Meh, his body type makes his handle look worse than it is. He's decent. I mean it looks awkward AF because it looks like he's dribbling a tennis ball. It's sort of like his dunks though... you almost never see him do anything other than raw power. No reverses, 360s, the odd windmill, just because that's who he is.

His passing seems weird too, to me, yet he throws great passes all the time. I just don't like the looks of them. He makes them seems so plain. Doesn't mean they aren't fantastic passes.

So yeah, his handle's pretty decent. He's not a cross over guy, that's all. He spins all the time.

The guy can’t cross anyone up yet he’s still better than Kobe at every facet of basketball.

Lebron has never needed a crossover to blow by his defender

He prefers to put his elbow down and manhandle the defender

Second time I've seen you pushing this, but why are Stephenson and KCP more conducive to slow lineups than Hart or Ingram? And Rondo led the fastest pace in the league team last year if I'm not mistaken, or they were the fastest when he started. KCP is by no means slow and he's like 25. I don't know how old Lance is but don't think it's old either. And the fit in that lineup is awful. There is 1 shooter for lebron to pass to, and 3 people who like to have the ball.
