This is what happens with a flawed roster and a bunch of vets on one-year deals. Luke's not a perfect coach but he hasn't remotely been given a fair chance. He's the perfect coach for a young talented - oh yeah. I guess he's gone.

While I'm no apologist for Magic the coach or president of operations I would point out that McGee and Rondo have consistently outperformed a lot of our youth while at the same time providing them with sage experience and lessons learned. Chandler has a lot to do with what we are seeing from Zu. Rondo is probably a more effective coach than Luke as well.

Yet Rondo has publicly backed Luke, and this is a guy who’s branded a coach killer.
This is also a guy who developed and coached Draymond Green, who also is a big Luke Walton fan.

What do you mean "yet"? I didn't say Rondo was in anyway part of this did I? No I didn't.
Luke is an inexperienced coach. He's not coached in the playoffs. A couple facts.
My thoughts on his coaching are that he's average at best so far in his brief career. That's fine for a developing team but Magic/Jeannie don't want a developing team do they? That much is clear.

I wish we'd hire some people who actually knew modern basketball and not just Laker ties. Johnson is becoming a complete embarrassment as a front office executive and this organization has basically fell ass backwards into everything since Kobe tore his achilles.
Don't put all the blame on Magic. LeBron had a hand in this too.

I really doubt LeBron said, "Oh yeah, sign Michael Beasley instead of Brook Lopez." Or, "Only offer Julius Randle a 1 year contract, because you'll never be able to trade him. And he's stupid, so you'll know he'll opt in when half the league will have major cap space."
The Russell trade was completely dumb as well, which I went in detail about at the time of the deal. We would have had a max cap space even with Deng and Mozgov on the books. And Mozgov has been traded how many times since then? Twice? It was a major panic move.
Magic Johnson, while a Hall of Fame player, is an awful executive. Period.

They both sat together at James' mansion and discussed this. There's no way Magic makes all these moves without input from James.
LeBron wanted Beasley from their Miami days. Lance personally called James to ask if it was okay to join and James said yes. Mozgov and Russell turned into Kuzma. And you really think that LeBron was going to trust someone that recorded locker room conversations? Russell had to go.
And it's funny how you say Magic is an awful exec. He got the biggest FA of last summer to sign, didnt' he?
