Lakers Training Staff

Post#1 » by Desiderium » Thu Feb 28, 2019 11:59 pm

How do you guys rank our training staff in comparison to other teams training staffs? I personally don't think highly of our training staff at all. I can't remember the last time a player came back on time, or ahead of the original timetable. How does a franchise as valuable as the Lakers not hire the best team doctors/trainers?

The issue is with the timetables that they publicize, they’re never realistic and set unreasonable expectations. Saying someone like Lonzo could be back from a grade 3 sprain in as little as 4 weeks was crazy.

But doesn't that speak about their competence? Not knowing timetables is concerning.

EDIT: In the case of Lonzo, it's concerning to me that they didn't even know about the bone bruise till about 5 weeks into recovery of the ankle sprain when they realized the swelling isn't going down. Isn't he getting daily treatment? Couldn't they have realized earlier he has a bone bruise?

I’d assume the team doctors set the timelines not the trainers. From there may be there’s some input from management about how and what they want to publicize. I’ve always assumed the actual training staff has very little to do with the publicized time tables.
