Yup.... I'm old enough to remember Kareem getting 1M a year and that was thought to be outrageous.... then the 25M 25 year contract for Magic was even more crazy.... Now 3rd level guys are making that in a week....
Why do people always compare the money players make back then to the money now? Do they not know about inflation? You can buy a lot more things with that 1M back then than you can nowadays.
Wow.... why do people who mention inflation not understand that inflation is rolling along at about 2.2% a year since then and the salaries in the NBA have risen over 3,000% in that same time frame.
The salaries of today are in no way reflective of the same economic situation.... not even remotely true. The TV deals merchandising and popularity of the game is what's changed.
