You need a Kawhi Stopper. or someone to slow him down.

A Lou Will Stopper. Someone who can put the heat on him.
A PG Stopper

Not let Montrell get those easy hoops.

Get Better shooters.

A way to counter their Denying AD the Ball beside Green.
Get AD more shots.
Lebron needs to shoot the ball more to keep the Defense from putting pressue on the others and to confuse the defense.

Some young guys to counter their Defense. Dwight is not the answer but Javalee in the Line up might help more.

Will see how much Kuzma's shot improved.

Perimeter Defenders and Shooters are needed

Personally, I don't think this is how we beat the Clippers... I think this was what the coaching staff thought, and it ultimately led to our loss...

For us to beat the Clippers, we need to force them to worry about how they're going to matchup with us, not the other way around.

Kawhi and LWill and a bunch of role-players, should not be enough to beat LeBron/Davis/Green and role players...

And it wasn't, when we focused on playing to our strengths in the 1st quarter. But then we worried about Kawhi too much and completely through out our game plan by subbing out McGee and switching KCP in, etc... We were coaching from behind all night.

You don't sit your starters when you get a 10pt lead against the Clippers, you keep them in and push the tempo, and try for 20 or 30.

We beat the Clippers by coming out, playing fast and big and running a ton of PnRs for LeBron and Davis to open up the court... We keep McGee in and active, and we keep Davis away from the 3pt line and focused on the shoulders-in...

And besides all that, we HAVE guys that can slow Kawhi and Lou down, in Green and Bradly (and Rondo when he gets back, or Caruso)... We just got snookered into not using them that way.

The Clippers should have no answer for LeBron/Davis/McGee if we use them right... That's the key to beating the Clippers.

I agree with eerything, except that AB and DG aren't gonna stop Kawhi and PG from getting theirs purely cos of their height. Lakers should pay Iggy like 10 mil under the table and get him in here asap. AD, Bron & Iggy gotta make their life difficult.

Lost because Lebron wasn’t assertive enough. Should have been more aggressive against Kawhi, drawing a couple fouls, and wearing him out on D.

Was hoping for a win, but was expecting a loss. First game of the season, last game of the season, and those games preceding/following the all star break are never good measures for overall success.

Don’t mind if the Clips win the reg season matchups, because the Lakers are really capable of playing at another level come playoff time. The clips, on the other hand, played like it was a game 7 for all but the first 6 minutes of the game.

Isn’t it about that time for a new game thread?

There are some good points to the Pick & Roll

Yes Iggy could be the difference maker. If he goes to the Lakers I think it will help the Lakers to close the gap and it depends on Lebron. Is he going to rest and step in up come playoffs times if they both don't have injured. I saw him defer alot to get others involved and going. But if Iggy goes to the Clipers we are out manned.

Clippers are loaded and punching hard. It will take a very good team to beat the Clippers in a 7 game series.

Lakers need to get in a Rhythm and load manage Lebron.

I do see JaVale needs to be in the game over Dwight.

I didn't think Dwight did that bad, I thought he was getting a crap job by the refs. I definitely want to see more JaVale though, he should feed off weakside AD and when they run the PnR.

The lack of PnR was odd, especially considering they were basically running a spacing lineup without Rondo. I thought we started really well though so I don't really see the need to insert Rondo in at starter. To me when the bench was in and they were having trouble creating, THAT was when I was like here is where Rondo would be extremely valuable, run the offense, create movement and plays.

The other big thing I noticed this game was definitely the lack of a real wing defender. We have a ton of small guards, and a bunch of bigs, but no real wings. Kuz is really our other wing defender. We just didn't seem to have a guy to matchup with Green/Harkless/Kawhi when Bron is out or slides to the 4 or when Green is out. KCP just sucks, he isn't a great defender and his size doesn't bother anyone, nor does he rebound well.

I think IGGY solves that issue bigtime. I really hope we land him as that will be huge. I think Kuz's movement and shooting will help a lot as well against tough defenses and he rebounds extremely well. I don't think he gets enough credit for how well he moves off ball and finds the right spots even when the offense isn't clicking or plays aren't run for him specifically. Hopefully once he is back you will see KCPs minutes reduced to a minimal point.
