The league pays part of his vet min deal so they saved a little bit and lowered they cap hit too. The Lakers did this in the 01 summer too with Brian Shaw and then signed him back three days later after he cleared waivers to a vet min. So he got his minimal guarantee and the vet min with the league and team paying for him
