playoff matchup we would prefer

Post#1 » by lalalaker » Wed Apr 7, 2021 2:59 am

with regards to lakers record at the end of season lets talk about the 1st 2nd and conf finals matchup we would prefer.
seeding wise would like to see clippers and nuggets meet again on 2nd rd. i dont think lakers will be afraid of jazz or mavs or blazers in any round. same for suns. if lakers can face anyone in the conf finals i would like to see jazz or suns. i would hope for lakers to avoid play any extra games so keeping above 6th seed is a must. 1 and 2 feels like utah and suns are close to being a lock although one major injury can change the landscape real quick. so for me i would like:

1.utah vs 8.warriors or pels(play in)
2.Suns vs 7.mavs
3.nuggets vs 6. clippers
4.lakers vs 5. blazers

then lakers vs utah
suns vs clip or nuggets

lakers vs whoever

hard to say how it holds up since 3 to 7 seed is really close right now
as long as lakers are above 6seed and have healthy davis and lebron im ok through

If we stay 4/5 seed we get:
Denver
Utah
Clippers

If we go to 6th we get:
Clippers
Suns
Utah

Not sure if anyone of them is better than the other but the second one we get a second round respite w suns.

Pipe dream would be to stay afloat and when everyone is back, gun for 3rd seed. If clips fall to 4th, then we get:
Portland
Suns
Utah/Clippers

Better restful scenario.

The only important thing imo is that the Lakers get at least the 6th seed so they can avoid any of that play-in game non sense. Anything can happen in those games. What if AD or Lebron tweaked something and sat out. Definitely need at least 6th seed which I don't see as guaranteed yet

If we're healthy, it doesn't matter who we face, although I'd prefer to avoid the Nuggets if possible... If we're not healthy, it also doesn't matter who we face...

So let's just focus on getting healthy....

I been keepin an eye on the Nuggets. They are HOT right now. And I'm hoping they'll cool off soon. But a player I've always liked has been Aaron Gordon. And ever since the Nuggets acquired him, undefeated.
Aaron Gordon, Joker who is playing MVP level, Jamaal Murray gifted point getter, and this kid is no longer a kid. But MPJ is lookin like an up and coming shooting Star in this league. The Nuggets are more interchangeable and have more flexibility in their lineup, and that makes them dangerous.

We get everybody back healthy, I don't care even if we are 8th seed. It's the same road getting to that championship. You have to face the tougher team each time you advance and eventually the toughest team in the east in the finals. Anyhow, everybody healthy, we are a very dangerous team and the toughest in the league I believe.

I don't think blazers will pass Denver in the standings. Denver and Clippers both have a fairly easy schedule rest of way.

Easy. The Slippers in the first round.

I don't want nobody else, neither for us or for them. Because it's gonna be the same ol' story, they'll inevitably choke against someone else and then we'll have to listen to their bandwagon fans for a year bragging, that if they had played us instead, they would've won.

No more excuses. I want them choked to death and dismantled in the summer after the ass whooping we gonna give them.
If you give me the beatdown of the Slippers, I won't even care what's next. I'll watch it relaxed the rest of the way, if we win it cool, if not at least we got one last year.

Honestly, I'd prefer just getting into the playoffs. Seeding doesn't really matter, especially this season.

1) we are not getting any higher seed this year. We will be somewhere 5 - 8

2) 1 - 4 will all be
utah
clips
Denver
Suns

3) any lower seed will just be going through any 3combo of the above teams.

4) thus doesn't matter what matchup we get or prefer. Unfortunately.

We are absolutely going to be the 5th seed. Denver or Clippers 1st round. Jazz second round. Suns WCF. Tough road but this was ALWAYS going to be a tough chip to win.

Playing the Nuggets in the first round isn’t ideal lol.

I have a strong preference for a playoff matchup that just popped up and I know you guys think this as well. But I am not going to mention it, and just keep my fingers cross we maintain seeding so we do get it.

Well things have now changed. Them or the Blazers for me. My biggest concern is avoiding the Clippers in the 1st round.

Yes, how quickly they have changed. Good team, but not formidable without Murray. Unfortunate

I don't really like Murray and i find him cocky but it's sad to see a player suffer a serious injury.

How about a match up where we face our former players that won a ring with us?

Jokic was the driving force in the playoffs, but Murray was definitely the reason that Jokic had all this space to playmake.
I would be surprised if they make it past the second round. They are still a great team, but they will sorely miss Murray. What sucks for them is that this injury will take probably all next year to heal as well. He may be ready by next years playoffs. It goes to show you that winning a ring has a little luck. How many great teams have been screwed by injuries and basically no chance at winning because of that. Like someone said not a big fan of Murray, but I wish him a speedy recovery. No one deserves injuries like that.
