Westbrook is going to struggle until he figures out where he fits in. It's probably going to take 30-40 games. It's understandable.

I'm crying at the thought of watching 81 more regular season games of Westbrook. He's not conducive to winning basketball, the quicker you accept it the less painful the rest of the season will be.
But hey, in the long shot that he proves me wrong I'd be the first to apologize for all the slander.

Jeannie has more confidence with Rob than Vogel so it there's an ax that going to fall, it's going to be on Frank.
Pelinka would probably use the 2012-13 Heat to counter the argument of fit or lack thereof.
Non shooter/ball dominant Wade= Westbrook.
Flexible big Bosh= AD
Younger/Athletic James= Wiser/freak James.
3&D vet, Battier=Ariza AND Bazemore and now Bradley
Lethal shooter Allen=Ellington? ok Nunn as a back up.
Shooter small Chalmers= Monk.
so Rob will say to everyone, Spoelstra and his staff make it work, why not Frank? If we can't maybe we need someone who did....?
wait with have David Fizdale.

We know it... The coaching staff knows it... The team knows it... And, I'm sure, Russ knows it...
So why not bring him off the bench until he figures it out? I thought this was supposed to be all "whatever it takes for the team" and what-not... Let's get either a shooter or an actual defender in the SL instead...
I know why that won't happen, but still...
I know no one gives a **** about the regular season, but you do have to at least win some games... More than most other teams in fact...
The way it stands now... If this team doesn't look considerably better soon... We may be forced to into a bench him or trade him scenario, if we want to stay relevant... So maybe put that in your ego and smoke it, Russ?
TBH, I had a dream the other night we traded Westbrook back to OKC... I woke up hyped... Didn't even think about what we got in return. And I LIKE Westbrook on this team.
I just went into this with the understanding it's going to have to go perfectly to work out... And will require a whole lot of compromise, mostly from Russell Westbrook.

As I mentioned above. This Avery move. Coach has been with these guys all camp. Worked em out. Seen em all. Made assessments.
We just acquired Bradley in the last minutes before tip off. Who got the significant playing time? That tells you alot if you can read between the lines.

That’s really not a good comparison at all. Wade, Bosh, and Bron at their peak vs a soon to be 37 year old and a soon to be 33 year old Westbrook. Wade was a far superior player to the current version Westbrook. AD is also nowhere near the floor spacer Bosh was. Ellington also does not equal Allen. Allen is one of the best pure shooters the game has ever seen. Allen was also the better defender.
Younger athletic Bron = Wiser/freak James. You might have a better chance convincing someone who’ve never watched Lebron play during his peak. Does anyone even fear Lebron these days? He’s still one of the best players in the game, but when was the last time he’s single-handedly took over a game? When was the last time a team’s game plan was entirely focused on stopping Lebron? I’m sorry but this one really was a ridiculous take.

Dude, the irony is I agree with you. I didn't like this trade because I strongly believe that it's a bad fit too. It was reported that it was AD who heavily recruited RWB and I'm betting there was a hesitance of James and Pelinka too but AD probably assured them that he'll play center so there will be enough space for both RWB and Lebron to operate.
Rob then went ahead on hiring at least 5 players who hit 40% from 3. RWB recruited his UCLA buddy Ariza.
Of course it's not going to be completely identical but the principle is the same. Provide spacing for 2 ball dominant non shooting players with floor spacers/shooters.
Allen is a great shooter of course, that is why I put a QUESTION MARK next to the name of Ellington even though he has a career 38% from 3 and put Nunn as a back up.
Of course James was more athletic and dominant 9 years ago but you make it sound like James is just averaging 18 pts/game. Dude was the in the running for MVP before he got injured last year, he just dropped 34 pts last night.

The huge difference IMO is that Wade is a much more smarter player than Russ. But ok, you find it ridicoulous? fine, let's agree to disagree.

Everyone seems to agree on this. It was totally unexpected, especially in the first game of the season.

The offense and lineups they are running didn’t do him any favors, but I’ve disliked Westbrook so much over the years that seeing him last night made me realize his style of play might be enough to get me to not watch games anymore due to how frustrating he is to watch. Damn.

The defense was terrible. 121 points and they didn't even have Klay Thompson.

Bringing him off the bench wouldn't make any sense considering the people he has to learn to play with us in the starting lineup. Not only that but this is the time to actually work the bugs out, that stuff doesn't happen in practice. Suffer now for the glory later. While frustrating, I enjoy the process. Lakers are going to win games from talent alone. The warriors are a exception because they move like a well oiled machine. Not too many teams can do what they do if any at all.

Our offense and defense is hot garbage right now. We started two 7 footers and the warriors had More points in the paint than us.

That was almost a decade ago. He turns 37 in two months. Westbrook was a horrible acquisition and I don’t think they’ll be able to win with him. No one has been able to win with Westbrook.

Coming off the bench doesn't exclude him from playing with AD and LeBron... Just not as much... And there's nothing to say he wouldn't play that role most often in practice... It would just minimize his lack of D and shooting in the SL, until he finds other ways to contribute or until Vogel comes up with 2 other guys that make that lineup work with their shooting and D.

Davis was the one who pushed hard to get him so he should be the one who should make it work. They knew spacing would be a problem so he declared that he’ll play center and yet Vogel decided to start DJ.
AD needs to be healthy and dominate, Frank needs to find ways to make it work like how Miami made it work with the non shooter Wade. The problem is that they don’t really have a legit 3&D player like Battier and Wade is so much smarter than Russ.
