Wayne Ellington so far

Post#1 » by tamaraw08 » Wed Dec 1, 2021 4:19 pm

Finally regaining his 3pt shooting touch currently climbed to 39.6 for the season. I know a lot are hailing Monk as the guy, and rightfully so, the King's game, he was on fire but bear in mind he is shooting 35.8% for the season.
The last time Wayne has shot below 33.3% from 3 was Nov 21, 6 games ago.
Currently tied with Melo for 4th in ORTG. Not great in DRTG but so is Monk both above 111.

We’ve talked a lot about Dwight getting more minutes and just cutting DJ from the rotation after that Kings game, and rightfully so.

Ellington though, (along with Monk and Reaves) is another guy who should be getting more minutes, and Bradley should be cut from the rotation. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Lakers played their best game of the season, and Bradley didn’t play and DJ barely played. I like Monk’s spark more off the bench than with the starting lineup. IMO, the starting lineup should be:

Dwight-AD-Lebron-Ellington-RW

With Lebron currently out you can put THT in his place. Either way, Vogel would solve a lot of his problems with this poor roster by shortening the rotation. A guy like Ellington should be playing about 28 minutes a night.

I don’t care much on who’s starting but we should start looking for the designated defender against top scorers if they start cutting Bradleys minutes. I really want Frank to try Reaves guard George and Tatum for the next 2 games.

He was brought here to hit spot up threes and be decent on D... He's probably the player I trust most, taking 3s this season, so he's gold in my book... His D isn't lock-down... But his shot is pretty.

He along with Reaves are my favorite players. It's not realistic to expect him to hit his 3's 40% every night, no one, even the best of them can do that. But there are streaky ones who will hit 7-10 for 2 games then go for 2-25 the next 6 games or so. All we can hope for is for him and/or Monk and eventually Nunn to hit 37% or so when Westbrook and James find them in the corners.
Reaves works hard and seems to have that IQ to defend and not commit silly fouls unlike Bazemore. He would be vital esp if he can hit 36% from 3 too.

Yeah he's close to being locked in the starting 4 in my book

Westbrook, Ellington, LeBron, Davis
