Re: THT held scoreless
With DJ’s minutes mercifully being cut, it’s getting to the point where THT is the most problematic regular rotation player. At this point, I don’t see any way you can justify not trading him when he’s eligible.

Agree with the rotation part. With regard to a trade, i'm not sure we could get much value in return. I'd say his value is pretty low right now and we might be better of keeping him and hoping he turns it around.

By the way, this thread was started as an experiment. In November, I had found more non-game threads about the Lakers on the first page of the General Board than on the first page of the Laker Board. I found it strange that only Laker Fans (and Laker Haters - who are a form of "negative fan" to me) tend to engage this way. It felt like an entitlement to me.
Anyway, I posted here and the above post particularly to see if anyone would even read it and comment. Someone And1ed the post ... so it seems someone got it.
It seems to me that Lebron is a "universal discussion" ... and much too my chagrin so now is Westbrook (as much for his ineptitude at winning as his skill at playing - and the combination of the two co-existing in one guy) ... still when people regularly start threads on the GB about THT (which happened after he had a good game ... and which spurred this post was after his next stinker) and players with his level of performance and experience ... then it just seems silly to me. It would be the equivalent of Raptor fans discussing Delano Banton on the GB.
Anyway, I just double checked yesterday and the Lakers Board seems much more lively now. Maybe it was just a lull, maybe my reminders since then have encouraged people to post here.
Regardless, continue with the exploration about his qualities and limitations. I'm stoked that you guys are actually discussing him here now.

Honestly that’s a fair point about his value. He’s been pretty brutal this year. Nunn can’t get healthy soon enough.

Re: THT held scoreless
It's frankly a little embarrassing when Laker fans spend a couple pages bashing a trade asset and then shift into talking about all the great players they can get in return for him...
THT is our best young player right now... He's being completely misused and over-played and they're tanking his value...
Much like they did with Ingram... And to a lesser extent, perhaps (don't think he played as much), Ball...
And he's not the problem with this team, nor would trading him be much of a solution...

Management - the bottom line
Still, when LA's superstar isn't a good evaluator of talent and fit, and yet they seem to yield to him on personnel decisions ... and look the other way while he tampers (AD) around the league for their benefit ... there's lots of selfishness to go round ... "placating" is not a true championship mentality ... it's all a house of cards. Of course they took Westbrick - he fits the selfish scenario well.
Look what Kyle is achieving in Miami with scrubs while Bam and Jimmy are out - there's the championship team-first mentality the Lakers needed.
You are probably right, THT is the best young player they have left ... since they just traded or dumped a stable of hustle and glue guys. Did Lebron have a problem with Caruso? Is that why?
In terms of winning ...
Caruso > Westbrook
KCP > Westbrook
Montrezl + Kuzma > Westbrook
and for that matter
Steven Adams (who selflessly boxed out hard for years letting Westbrook get all those rebounds uncontested, and set bone crushing screens to free Westbrook on offense) > Westbrook. When will teams learn inefficient chuckers don't win
