It moves AD back to power forward where he’s a beast defensively compared to center where his O goes up but D drops because he can’t contest every pick and roll while having someone behind him at the basket. Woods also is hitting 36% of his threes as the main focus in Houston so he offers spacing, so bye bye Ariza starting. Sliding Bron down makes the team bigger and better defensively too on the wing. Monk sticks at the 2 over Bradley and his fake hustle, people who thought he was comparable to KCP on defense are stupid.

At the point it becomes Wall is smarter than Russ and even if he doesn’t play, at least you have a better one terror and perimeter shooting. Tucker has sucked on both ends all year,Russ has sucked on both ends all year, and them sucking limits AD and Bron when they play with them. At best you get wall to be a 15 and 7 player who even when he was in Washington took pride in playing defense. At worse you get Bron at point guard and just have to put a 5th starter in if wall doesn’t pan out. Hell wall would be more receptive to coming off the bench too probably than Russ.

Great post. We don’t know if Wall will work well with Lebron and AD even though he’s a lot smarter than Russ but we all have witnessed how bad they were with Westbrook so why not try it especially when you add a tall player who can shoot, rebound and block shots?.

Does that make Lakers a contender this season?

Because the big picture is that an expiring $47m+27FRP+28swap+29FRP is enough to give a team to get a max player contract or mix of good players (if they want to go different direction) or even enough to snatch a Beal/Harden that opt in to be traded to Lakers.

Lakers hasl almost zero chance with Westbrook, ans no getting Wall and Wood won’t make them a contender but it gives them a better chance of competing. How much better? It’s debatable. Wood is averaging 17.5/10reb/1block with 37% from 3. His not expensive at 13.5 mil imo which is attractive to most teams that needs a young 6”10 floor spacer = a good trading chip if the Lakers want to pursue Lillard and Beal.
Wall is ALSO expiring like Russ and I really believe more teams would rather have John than Westbrook. But we can agree to disagree if you really think other teams would rather get that 2027 pick than Wood.

Wall would gladly come off the bench and not think he is the best PG in the game....

That alone was worth a straight swap.

Pick for wood.... Debatable. But wood is a poor man's AD.... DEFENSE AND CAN SHOOT

AD and him on the floor would be amazing

I think Wall will have a better attitude but I really believe he’s a lot smarter than Russ, therefore this team would have less dumb shots, less turnovers going forward.
I prefer a 6’10 guy who can shoot, rebound and block shots over a mystery college kid 5 years from now.

The Christian Wood trade is interesting but I wouldnt do it. I rather have Russ than Wall. They are the same player but Russ is rarely injured while we have no idea what Wall looks like. Wall is equally as stubborn about being a 6th man. Wood I like as a player but seems like he gets a alot of his points by being on a bad team. He would be a decent fit tho. Good 3pt shooter at a good volume but it's a move that doesn't move the needle and mortgages the future.

The what if scenario does not move this team anywhere but hopeless situation. What can be done now the trades did not happen. The buyout market is now open.
