I think this team quit about 30 games ago. Around mid-season I think this team realized that they weren't a contender, no way-no how. But once AD went down (again) I think most guys just wanted to get through this. I don't think the comradery is there, and people want to be as far away from this stench as possible. The fight is so clearly not there. Lebron talked about all the lose balls, all the 50/50 plays, all the call going against them....well a huge part of that is effort. And detail to the little things.

Lebron has been quite efficient on top of his numbers. But I think he's just going for the scoring title / Kareem's title at this point.
I don't think this was from the get-go....but a little before the all-star break. Once this team had quit. I'd prob do the same, tbh.

We're what?? 2-9, 2-10 since the allstar break? While there's a small sense of pride that the Lakers 'make the post-season' so often, and so it's a bummer to miss, you also gotta look at how easy it is to make the post-season these days. We're a 33-34 win team, and will be in the hunt until the end.

They really shouldn't allow anyone under .500 in! For reals....you gotta at least win more games than you lose, right? The regular season aught mean SOMETHING. A team 10-12-14 games under .500 is a joke. I see no reason this team should make it. They are total garbage, except 1 player.

LeBron's been picking his spots and ensuring his efficiency stays respectable... But he's been fairly unclutch all season, and he's not really been making the urgent plays needed to win games on either side of the floor... So it's like the scoring and the efficiency don't matter as much... He's been guarding nobodies all season and getting torched by them... He intimidates no one anymore...

So the obvious scoring chase feels a little insulting...

And AD has been playing well when he's healthy, but they just don't play together... It's one plays strong, the other coasts... All season...

I want them both gone... I think they're both coming back next season, so there's not much point in talking about that... But I would love it if the Lakers dumped Vogel and Pelinka, traded AD and LeBron, and got **** serious about building a real basketball team, instead of a freaking clown-show... Los Angeles Ego Strokers... Of Crypto Arena... Clowns.

I just fell in love with you Kilroy LOL

Edit: you know what though, out of the 3 I'd rather keep Russ ... Because at least Russ plays every damn game.

I understand the frustration, I really do. There were many nights that I really felt depressed because of this teams very sorry state but I also remember the times they have struggled to win 20 games before tbut I guess the expectations were low the feeling was a little different.
The question is are we really regretting signing Lebron and/or trading their young players for Davis? Really?
They win it all and now they’re miserable as compared to a young team like Boston with their young talent. Very good team, good enough to be a dark horse every year but not good enough to win it all.

No regrets here. We got #17. I don't think we'd have come close keeping our youth. And we woulda lost a bunch of them, as their contracts started coming up. It's a bummer AD can't stay healthy....and it's a real bummer we went out and got Russ. I don't think we will recover from that. We won't be able to recoup anything close to what we shipped out. We might get desperate, and take on some longer term contracts in an effort to try and pair a couple guys who work better with AD and Lebron. But I think the most likely scenario is that we will he stuck with Russ for another season.

I mean...after that, Lebron can stay or leave. With Russ gone, there will be $$ to spend.

If that one title ends up being all there is to it....I guess you could look back, and call the whole thing a little disappointing. But I wouldn't call it a failure.
