I was there to see him get his star. Thought, what a great thing to happen to such a great man with so many hot girls and laker girls around him.

Anyway, was sadden to read about his passing just now. Prayers to the Buss and Lakers family. He was the best owner ever.

good article;

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--from- ... 37054.html

nice ending:

In all, Buss' Lakers have won 10 NBA titles, making him the single winningest owner in sports history.

And with that success has come the financial rewards. The team that he purchased for $16 million was recently valued at more than $1 billion.

Not bad for a kid who once considered success being a gunny sack full of food.

RIP Dr. Buss.

My condolences to you guys. Perhaps the greatest owner in any American sport in the last 30 years. I've always said to win a lot of NBA championships, you need one of two things: Great ownership or Michael Jordan.

Tough loss for you guys. Hopefully you'll rally the troops and knock off the Heat in the Finals.

Wow. Tough news. You knew eventually it was coming.

At a time like this I think more about the loved ones and friends. Especially Jeanie. Wish the Buss family all the best.

I always appreciated and respected his willingness to put his wallet where his mouth was. He believed in his teams, he treated everyone nice and as far as I've been told, he was very much a down-to-earth guy who took a lot of time to speak with fans.

I really feel bad that he passed away in this particular season. His ending deserved something more positive.

Dr Jerry Buss was the best sports team owner there is. He put his passion and blood into the Lakers. The Lakers ...and the well-being of its fans... was his life.
Today is a sad day. I shed a tear when Magic retired. And when Chick passed away.
And now I will shed a tear for Jerry Buss, our great owner.

Fortunately for us, Jerry Buss made sure we as fans would only need to shed a tear once every decade for something that was out of his hands.

Outsiders see us Laker fans as legions and as privileged optimistic to a fault?

Well, Our owner Jerry Buss raised us fans this way giving us the sweetest team with the sweetest history.

Rest in peace.

I guess Jim Buss had the reigns for awhile afterall. Anyways, thank you for a lot of happiness your team has given me over the years Dr. Buss. You have lived a life so many of us bachelors can only dream of. You no longer have to be in pain and that is truly the silver lining here. You will never be forgotten in LA ever. May your body rest in peace and your soul keep partying in heaven.

RIP

He was the greatest owner of any sports franchise that I know of.
But he wa a lot more than that.
He was a mentor, a father figure to some of the atheletes, and a true sports hero/icon in Los Angeles.

RIP good man!

Oh man, very sad news. R.I.P.

We're all the fans of this great franchise because of him, because he made the Lakers what they're today, a globally famous team and the most glamorous and wished one in the NBA.

He brought to the older fans the beautiful Showtime and to younger fans like me a chance to witness the pure domination of Shaq and the rising to unreachable heights of Kobe.

Thank you, Dr. Buss for having sometimes fun week-ends, tentionate and full of emotions at the same time.

His name will be forever linked with success, with the Lakers.
