Dump Sacre somewhere so we can take on Upshaw as a project. Hear the Clippers need a C, we can probably extort a pick from them too because DOC

Why would anyone be happy about this trade. Again we fail we got no assets we took on 18 mil of our cap space. Every team's FO is running circle around us. it is pathetic.

As long as we didn't have to give up Tarik Black I'm happy here. I would've been pissed if we went after David Lee. It's crazy how people are high on Upshaw yet Hibbert's rim protection is the realization of Upshaw's potential in terms of rim protection. In regards to the offensive side of the floor, I think it would take a miracle for upshaw to develop there.

Great two-headed monster in Hibbert/Black. I'd split the minutes right down the middle and play some bully ball.

A little thing call leverage young man. The Lakers had none after the events, or lack thereof, over the last three days.

Didn't see it.

We really need David Lee's expiring contact now. He'll help win some games as well. Don't want to give away a great pick to the Sixers.

Under 30, a legit rim protector and former all star. He had a lot of confidence issues near the end of his tenure in Indy. Hopefully a new change of scenery will rectify that.

I get that the Lakers are not taking on a long term contract, and that Roy only has this season. But this is a guy where it was nationally known that every other Pacer player could not stand him. His poor work ethic, his Me first attitude. I mean hell, the Pacers wanted Lance Stephenson to stay more then this guy. But he had a deal that was basically untradeable. I really thought any team agreeing to take on Hibbert was going to have to be paid...just how my Sixers were paid to take back salary off the Kings roster. But at least both Landry and Thompson are more then serviceable Vet players with great team attitudes. And yet we also got back Stauskas, and draft picks/considerations.

That's what I assumed the Lakers would get at least. Maybe the rights to 2nd rounder " Joe Young " and a future 1st rounder. But man...to send them a 1st rounder and a player ??? Sorry Laker fans...I don't get it.

If it's not a top-55 protected one I'm done. Jim's dead to me. Mitch severely maimed.

Really? We've had 10 posts, and only 2-3 were about trading Hibbert as opposed to what we would do with cap space. And the only Nick Young reference is me saying this:
As long as we don't take back Nick Young or pay to make the deal, there's no bad deal to be made, essentially.

So, yeah. For Indy, we had cleared up the issues with Roy for this year and the flurry of cap space is already spent. We have enough for our one move (Monta Ellis) and have no pressure to move Roy. He was sure to get moved at some point this year, but no need to do so right now that we have to pay anything to do so. Seems like a perfect fit of the Lakers just doing something with their cap, and maybe on a guy they can flip later in the year for some value to a center starved team, and Indy just moving on.

As for the Lakers? Probably a good move. Hibbert does one thing well, rim protection, and he's extraordinary at it. He's gotten a bad rap around the forums, but he's still a very serviceable center. You won't love his mental inconsistency, but I think it'll be minimized for you this year as he'll be possessed with "motivation", for at least awhile. Mostly, he just needs a change of scenery. I'd watch him around Kobe: Roy doesn't take well to tough conversations or mindgames from teammates. Ultimately, he's a good enough locker room guy around the young players, probably a good fit with Randle, and he'll almost single handedly allow you to play a MUCH better team defense. For free, or small bits (2nd rounder) you can't do wrong here. I think he'll be a solid 12/8/2 kind of guy on 27-32 minutes a night (his extreme size limits him to about 30 effective minutes a night, max).

It's probably a 2nd rounder. Since we can't trade our 2017 pick. Our 2018 pick belongs to Orlando.

Oh, you read it completely wrong. Roy got along with the guys in the locker room. The only conflict was Lance, and only for a couple weeks, to 2 months at the end of Lance's run in Indy. We tried to re-sign Lance, as if we kept him or lost him, we couldn't add anyone else, and we had limited assets. Losing Roy gives us cap space to use. Roy was respected by his teammates. He had a good work ethic. He had a team attitude (he hated when Lance went on his selfish run of play after Evan Turner was acquired).

You just read the situation wrong.

I like the move. Hibbert is elite when it comes to rim protection - think teams shot like 42% at the rim against him or around there.

If we give up a 1st, the Pacers bent us over. Otherwise... good deal for both sides. Wouldn't put it past our FO to trade a 1st for this guy though.

Roy is 7 2" and has NEVER AVG double digit rebs in his career. This is the softer, worser ver. Of Brook Loepz

No way this is a good move for the Lakers, We are not a play off team we are a Lotto team easy. This sorta move is only good for a team who can make the playoffs. This move here made our off season worst. Atleast with the pure cap space Laker fans could dream of hey we got all this youth we got all this cap space maybe we can get some assets during the season for it. Now what do we got to dream of.

The only winners in this trade is #1 Pacers they get to dump there "trash" for free and for your team he is trash you don't want him you begged him to leave. #2 Roy the guy can rebuild his value and get PAID next year.

Only losers in this whole this is Laker fans and the Lakers. This just proves how (Please Use More Appropriate Word) our FO really is

context and i don't care much for Hibbert. Hibbert plays 25 minutes a game. If he managed double digit rebounds in those minutes he'd be the best rebounder in the league.

Not a fan of Hibbert, but I see value in getting some type of players with experience and some type of ability to surround the youngsters and not burden them with so much so early.
