I remember the stunned numb feeling I had when I heard the Magic HIV announcement. Back then that was a death sentence .

Knicks fan here. Kobe was my first favorite player, when I started truly caring about the game. Loved that he had an Afro just like little 10 year old me. I teared up but as Laker fans can’t imagine how you guys feel. Condolences.

I am in tears. At a loss of words. I was fan of the game before Kobe but it was his game that got me passionate about the Lakers and basketball.

I was OK until I heard about his daughter... My daughter was pretty good at basketball... Played Varsity C as a freshman in High School... She really didn't have that close a connection with the game, but she knew Kobe... So I used him as an example countless times, not just in ball, but as philosophies of life... She still tells me after a good or a bad event, that she needs to let it go and move on, Like Kobe...
So I know what those conversations he had with his daughter were sort of like... Only he was telling it first hand.

My daughter just found out... And like me, the fact that Gianna died with him, hits the hardest.
