Not sure how many minutes big Burrito can give us but its going to unclog a lot of the half court offense issues this team had last season.

His passing was great, but more impressive than that (and more unexpected) to me, was his leadership on the court... His jersey still has the folds in it and he's out at the top of the key telling vets like Morris, KCP, Duds, and Trez where to go and when to cut... And on top of that, it's just a preseason game and Marc was serious as hell... You can tell he's here for a reason and he was letting everyone know, especially a young up and coming cat like THT, that the celebration from last year is over and it all starts again now...
I kinda was like whatever about getting Marc... I saw him as just a bigger body counter for those matchups we needed Howard for last season... I wasn't that high on what he had left in the tank... But this stupid unimportant preseason game, changed my mind a bit.

He makes us a whole lot better.

Guys like Kuz, THT, KCP seemed like energized to move and cut bec they know Marc will make the proper pass which was a welcome relief upon seeing Schroeder's ultimate mission in game 1, which was to prove he's an elite scorer who will attack, took like 13 shots and 1 assist in limited minutes. :-?
If Marc keeps this up, doing great passing from the top of the key, it'll be interesting how he mesh next to Lebron and Dennis. Who will initiate the offense? Should he come off the bench and set it up for THT, Kuz etc?

Damn right! Not only was he picking the cutters, he was running the team on both sides, which is priceless. I'd love to see him run all of Lebron's bench minutes with Rondo gone.

Suggested this bench lineup of cutters next to Gasol - THT - Caruso - KCP - Kuz. They're gonna have so much joy getting easy layups in the unclogged lane. THT & Gasol can run the occasional Iso in the middle, to keep things fresh.

If Caruso comes in with a 3pt shot, I think it works... I'm a Schoder fan... He's tough as nails, fearless, a great shooter and a tenacious defender... I'm just not sure I see him as a starting 1 for us... I know I'll sound like a clown for this right now, but I think our best pg other than Lebron, might end up being THT... His passing was a little weak at times, but his vision and instincts are better than anything I've seen since PO Rondo... He also keeps the ball moving and the pace up better than the other guys so far... Love his little no look shovel passes in the paint... He uses his body and hesitation-dribbles to get in the attacking zone and doesn't force it, but finds open cutters, or hits the corner shooters... We just haven't seen that in a long time.
I'd love to see THT/Schroder/LeBron/AD/Marc to start games, with Schoder being used as a scorer, rather than a distributor...

But I'm sure teams are going to figure THT out soon and he may disappear a bit as he struggles to find counters... So who knows... This might all be meme material by mid season... But I really don't think so.

I have as much faith in Caruso's 3pt shot as I have in Kuz's reverting to shooting 37% from the 3pt line. If THT keeps up his current production, I don't think it's ridiculous to say he should be competing for a starting spot. I do love what i've seen from him thus far. However, I think we should be a bit cautious and not expect too much. We've seen similar hot starts from some of our players over the years. I do get what you're saying about mature his game is... like you've already mentioned he checks several boxes. I do agree.

I disagree on his passing vision. I'd say this is one of the areas in which he should look to improve. He's also not a great finisher, at least not yet.

I doubt THT will start this year. He can maybe earn 10 minutes a game this year. This team is very deep.
Kuzma is definitely becoming more and more expendable as we get into the season.

I'm not sure if you watched game 1 preseason because I was concerned with Dennis Schroeder's court vision and passing too. He took 11 shots to 1 assists and SIX TURNOVERS! Some so-called experts foolishly compared him to a younger Rondo, I'm guessing bec they have the same built but their strengths are very different. Dennis has a career 4.6 assists to 12 attempts per game.
His last year as a starter for the Hawks, He took 17 shots to 6 assists and 2.7 turnovers for 31 mins/game.

Yeah, I'm not sure where the 'Schroder is a PG" thing is coming from... I've been tracking him for a few years now and he's a 2 by all reasonable measures... Which is fine, playing next to LeBron. But I think expectations should be tempered on the whole passing thing...

Not a few think it’s going to be as easy as turning the ignition key of the Ferrari but it’s not. Who should initiate the offense? Marc is also great passing from the top of the key. Will Schroeder adapt to the good ball movement they had before to get the highest % shot and properly set up AD?

If he doesn't, he's going to be a scoring guard, which is fine, but it'll also mean Caruso gets more burn at the 1, because even though he's not flashy, he rarely makes a bad pass and LeBron trusts him.

I'm thinking we'll be up like 40 in the first half and then LeBron and AD will sit and we'll end up losing by 10...

Did anyone see that Kostas and Cacok had to clear covid tests before returning to the team. Guess they thought they came in contact with someone positive.

Hmm if a star on any team is out for 2 weeks. That can be difference makers this season

Rondo & Schroeder. lol.. Like 5-7 guys have ever had that Rondo / CP3 / Bron kinda vision.

I posted this on one of these forums before - I'd dearly like for Vogel to demand that Schroeder to get help / advice from Lebron, Kidd, Magic, if he wants, to get that assists tally up to 7.5 - 8 somehow, which is not ridiculous considering he's done 6 before he got much superior point guards to take over those duties from him.

Bron's interview this week was totally on point about filling in the gaps however the team needs, and Schroeder should have a big role in that.

I’m still upset Marc left the Raps.

Even though he’s got nothing left in the tank offensively, he more than makes up for it elsewhere.

Raps don’t win a ship without him. Slowest guy on the court but yet he’s everywhere he needs to be defensively. And his passing is off the charts.

Lakers went from a bit of a meme team to probably the highest IQ team in the league with Gasol and Bron
