Ayt, thank you sir. The window of opportunity is still open for Brooks.

If you really want large PGs and not combo guards, here are some:

Carlos Arroyo
Acie Law
Goran Dragic
Mike Bibby
Sebastian Telfair
Earl Watson

not very appealing except for Dragic, but he's restricted and has a Team option.

You start to get the feeling that it's harder being the backup PG than it is the starting PG on this Laker team.

id really like kmart for part of the MLE. no need to trade for him, as he will be a free agent.

You just said we need to sign a big who isn't 192598325897 years old but you then say we should sign -Mart who is 198965876981 years old, hahahahaha.

The reason we trade for him is because we can get Felton with him and give him a bit more than half the MLE in a re-sign but still have our full MLE to spend.

You know what I mean. Kmart can actually contribute to a winning team, whereas guys like Joe smith and Theo ratliff are on their last legs. Kmart would be a great backup big for us

And I doubt the lakers make a move before free agency starts, which makes a kmart+Felton trade impossible.

Is it Possible??

Post#1004 » by Mastroberadino » Tue Jun 7, 2011 10:30 pm

To be honest I need some hell with this I wanted to know if these deals have any legs to walk on?

Vujacic's TPE for Brooks
JR Smith for the full MLE

SF:Artest/Barnes/Ebanks
PF:Gasol/Odom/Walton
C:Bynum/??????
SG:Bryant/Smith
PG:Brooks/Fisher

I would love to see this in the fouth

SF:Bryant
PF:Gasol or Odom
C:Bynum or Gasol
SG:Smith
PG:Brooks

Brooks, Smith and Bryant would be proble for anyone to deal with. Heck we all know what Bynum, Gasol and Odom can do. I think this is what we should go after, then get a big like Aaron Grey, Greg Oden, or Gadzuric

1. This should've been posted in the Transactions Thread. But you're a rook, so it's cool. Just know it for next time.
2. Only way to get Brooks is if we sign him using the MLE. I'm almost sure PHX wouldn't deal with us.
3. Even with the full MLE thrown at him on a championship caliber team, I'm sure JR wants the opportunity to start. I see him as CHI bound.

All in all for both things to happen I'd say impossible. Nice try though.

Eric Pincus mentioned the idea of a Lamar, Blake for Felton, Harrington or Birdman trade I've thought about this same idea but didn't think about including Birdman. Between Birdman and Harrington which one would you guys want in a trade involving Odom?

Birdman no question about it. Good player to play alongside of Gasol. Then you go and add K-Mart in FA and you have a solid bench again in the FC.

I don't want either one but I'd take Birdman. Something tells me he'd self-destruct here in LA though.

He's really underrated. His rebounding, defense, and shot-blocking are on another level. He'd be a benefit not a problem and he can pass as well, not to mention he can quickly dive off of a pass by Gasol to finish like Odom does. K-Mart as a part of a S and T would be perfect next to Bynum as that tough mid-range PF. Regardless you lose quite a bit of offensive punch off of the bench and I'm not sure they want to do that to get a good PG at the level of Felton (would want better for that price).

Idea two: The idea that I'm starting to like is signing Rodney Stuckey to be the backup SG, trading off Barnes, and adding Rasual Butler in his place.

PG- Blake, Fisher
SG- Bryant, Stuckey
SF- Artest, Butler
PF- Gasol, Odom
C- Bynum,

I really like that bench with Stuckey replacing Brown and then coming into the final line-up if Artest isn't needed. We have to realize Fisher will likely still get 12-15 mpg as the backup PG. We need someone to create for him, as well as switch off with tougher match-ups. Stuckey could be that guy.

I wonder what we'd use the MLE on if this deal was to be completed.

Yeah the Denver one. And who? You proposed Martin in a S&T so that covers our PF rotation. Add the draft picks in and we're all set.

Martin in a S and T would cover that definitely for about 3-4m a year. If the pick is included (say 22 is swapped for 41), then I would say that covers backup PG and then an inexpensive guy is signed at SG or we draft David Lighty. I'm not 100% in favor of it though because scoring all-around big men are very rare. I'm far more in favor of trying to search for bargain bin guards that can compliment each other.

Would you trade Walton+Barnes for Maggette? And I'm being serious. He's seflish sure, but if Zach Randolph can become valuable what about a guy that's just as credible as far as scoring from the SF spot.

I'd heavily consider it if we're getting Felton, Martin, and Birdman in return. It'd be tough to part with Odom but I'd would definitely consider it.

I'm fine with Lighty but you're assuming Shannon is going to leave us outright, which I don't think he's going to do. So I'd draft Lighty and let him sit behind Shannon until we can conjure up a proper deal to send Brown on his way.

Call this wishful thinking, but is it crazy to think a Brown/Felton/Bynum package could net us Paul?

You don't need a trade to get Kenyon he's a free agent and looking at his numbers this past season he'll be lucky to get 25% of the money he's been making his numbers were barely full MLE level. And he'll be 34 by the end of the year. Also if the Lakers can get Felton and Anderson in a trade wouldn't getting Kenyon take away to much of Anderson's PT.

Please tell me you're joking. I would never want to replace Barnes with Rasual and I don't want Stuckey anywhere near this team!

I could honestly care less about Barnes-Butler. Yes I want Stuckey on this team.

Yeah, ya just can't ignore such a good value trade. I love Odom but getting Felton and K-Mart and the Birdman ... that is great value.

Why do you feel this way? I figured it was a sure thing Brown would be gone after playing last year for a pittance, not winning anything meaningful, being thrown under the buss as the reason for Pau's issues, etc ... I would be surprised if Shannon returned, though not shocked ... I'll put it at 70/30 he leaves.

Call this wishful thinking, but is it crazy to think a Brown/Felton/Bynum package could net us Paul?

Um ... yeah, that is more than enough to net us CP3. If we really offer Felton, Bynum and Brown we better also be able to throw Walton into the deal and be getting back CP3, Ariza and Okafor ... even that seems like the Hornets would be raping us.

I'd rather package Felton and Bynum for Dwight and Jameer.

The players that I think are for sure going to be Lakers come November are Kobe, Pau, Bynum, Artest, Fisher, Barnes, and Ebanks I think everyone else is available including Odom. The offensive system Brown is bringing in needs a good PG and Odom as much I would hate to lose him is the only piece that can bring in that PG. And Felton I think is the best guys available to fill that role.
