saying if Magic don't move D12 now, they're jerking him around and really don't want to trade him

D12 to the Lakers will happen... the only question is who will be the 3rd team, the Rockets or Cavs?

Agreed our bench will still blow but fwiw Miami won a championship last year with an awful bench. If they can do it we can also.

Yahoo: You tweeted that d12 is willing to re-sign with the lakers....before reports were that he only wanted to go to brooklyn, did it take a lot of convincing to get him to consider LAL?

Rudolph: Didn't necessarily take a lot of convincing. In Dwight's defense, a lot of things haven't come from Dwight. Always interested in LA, but he didn't want his talents minimized (re: designated rebounder stuff from kobe).

Yahoo: Rockets rumors hot over the weekend, would he consider staying there?

Rudolph: No, doesn't want to be there. Respects McHale/Rockets, but he wants a team that can win. Stresses that Lakers have always been involved, offer always on the table.(first offer was Bynum, MWP for Howard). At that time, D12 was being told he was close to going to Brooklyn. When that didn't come through, d12 started wondering if the magic were just juggling him around, not really interested in moving him.

Problem with Bynum offer is the report that he wouldn't extend.

Yahoo: Whats ORL getting in this 3 way trade with CLE?

Rudolph: Varejao, several picks, and im assuming at least jrich outgoing. thats whats being reported. I can understand frustration from D12 cause Nets had Lopez and picks on the table too. Howard thinking Magic just not really interested in trading him.

Yahoo: Whats the timetable? Can the Rockets get back in it, as 3rd team?

Rudolph: HOU can't do anything til Asik is resolved, its why CLE can step in as 3rd team. Onus is on the Magic, this is where we are at, Magic are going to take it or not, if they don't, they'll show that they just don't intend to trade Howard. It'll be just ORL playing like they want to trade him and ruining Howard's image. They won't be able to say that Howard is being difficult.

"Howard is ready to go, LAL is ready to go, Bynum is ready to go, CLE is ready to go, its up to ORL."

i tried my best to get the main points.

Recap of JR:

- Lot's of these things haven't come from Dwight. Dwight has always been interested in LA. He doesn't want to go to a place where he's not minimized. He's 3x defensive player of the year in ORL and doesn't want to be a minimized player in LA. But winning culture of LA makes it ok for Dwight.

-He doesn't want to be in Houston long term. Respects McHale and the Rockets but wants to win. The Lakers have always been involved. Always had an offer on the table. They were prepared to offer as the initial offer Bynum/MWP for Dwight if Dwight signed an extension. But Dwight was told it was close with Brooklyn. He's wondering if they were going to trade him or if they're trying to make Dwight look bad in the media.

-Problem with LA deal: Bynum won't sign extension. Doesn't mean he won't resign but Bynum wants to explore FA. But Magic don't want that. LA has made themselves known to wanting Dwight and have been aggressive.

-3 team trade with CLE: Orlando would get back Varajeo and draft picks. Orlando's trying to get rid of bad contracts. Dwight's frustrated because Brooklyn was offering several draft picks and was willing to take bad contracts, so if they didn't deal with Brooklyn why would they deal with Cleveland and LA. Still wondering if they really want to trade him. JRich and Duhon must be involved as well because of their bad contracts.

-Houston can't do anything until Asik is resolved. This is where Cleveland comes in with the opportunity to be the third team, because the Asik situation will take until next weekend to be resolved.

-The onus is on the Magic. Dwight has been vilified. Hasn't handled everything well but reactions are to broken promises he's had to deal with. Dwight declined to comment because he doesn't want to be a part of the leaks.

-If the Magic don't take this deal then their intentions are clear, they don't really want to move him and instead are letting his image take a massive hit. There have been constant negotiations with LA. If they're going to move him they'll move him. If they're not going to move him we'll see what their intentions are. Because everyone else (LA, Dwight, Bynum, and Cleveland) are all ready to go. So the onus is on the Magic.

my take away from this is that rudolph is being sent by howard camp on a mission to try to pressure the magic into taking the lakers deal and try to save some of howard's image.

i don't expect anything to happen any time soon.

OMG!!!! watching espn's sports center bright and early at 6 am WOOOO!!!! for breaking news

Magic center Dwight Howard signaled that if he is traded to the Los Angeles Lakers he would be prepared to sign a long-term extension after the 2012-13 NBA season, the basketball website RealGM.com reported on Wednesday.

Two sources confirmed to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that Howard is willing to re-sign long-term with the Lakers if Orlando trades him there. Until recently, Howard had been steadfast in his desire to commit only to the Brooklyn Nets long-term.

The Lakers have not been notified of any change in Howard's thinking as of late Wednesday night, a league source told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne, but had always figured he would commit to staying with the franchise once he experienced being part of a championship culture. As ESPNLosAngeles.com reported Tuesday night, the Lakers have been willing to make a trade for Howard without assurances he would sign an extension.

Sources also told Broussard that the Lakers are ready and eager to trade for Howard -- with a package built around Andrew Bynum -- but that Orlando is holding up the deal. Orlando, while willing to trade Howard, is not in a rush. The Magic will wait until it gets a deal that it likes.

The Lakers remained dogged in their pursuit of Howard late into the night Wednesday and plan to continue discussions into Thursday, a league source told ESPNLosAngeles.com, but the longer the process drags on, the more it complicates their other off-season business and forces them to consider moving on.

One potential holdup is Bynum's unwillingness to sign a long-term extension in Orlando. While Bynum has not completely ruled out playing there, sources said, he will not sign an extension there and instead will wait until after the season and potentially test the free agent market.

The Lakers have talked with Cleveland and Houston, both of whom have interest in Bynum, about being a third team to help facilitate the trade. Both clubs have the draft picks that Orlando wants in any deal.

The Magic will also want to rid itself of some of it's more onerous contracts like those of Hedo Turkoglu and Jason Richardson.

If a Howard trade isn't feasible, the Lakers would quickly turn their attention to resuming extension talks with Bynum and re-signing forward Jordan Hill. If Bynum agrees to an extension, it would start the clock on a deal for Howard in much the same way Brooklyn's extension with Brook Lopez did this week.

Information from ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard and ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne contributed to this report.
