I wouldn't mind it, but I think it would be stupid to trade for him and risk losing the Top 5 pick too.

Not sure I buy Dragic as a 20m/yr player for the next 4 years. Maybe next year, but I worry that if he finds himself in a more structured/higher pressure, role, he might not be the player we're seeing right now.

we just simply cant afford to lose out on a very good pg/sg we have to make this work...if we get the suns to change the protection on the pick we get dragic and a top 10 pick.... and just lose hill and a late first... this makes so much sense for it not to happen....

I'm not worried about Dragic as a player. I'd rather the Lakers overpay Dragic than offer Rondo a contract at all.

We'll likely have two key starters on rookie deals for the next 4 seasons if you count Randle & a top-5 pick next season, we can afford to overpay for talent especially with the rising cap. Offering a 4 year max is no issue for me at all with Dragic.

Given those two choices at the same money, I'd probably go with Dragic too.

Good point. I'd rather over pay for someone else, but I agree that we can afford to take a risk at the Max on a player LIKE Dragic.

Still not sold, but I could accept it I guess.

Yeah long story short. He's definitely not the worth the max and is not a franchise cornerstone to build around

Why on earth would the Suns change the protection on that pick?

So many juicy rumors ATL:

-Thad Young is on the block, not trading Martin???

-Thomas Robinson was hugging his teammates and proposed will barton or something after the Lakers game

-No one wants Lance. How about Hill, Wesley J and the Clippers 2nd??

-Celtics looking at Kanter (surprise surprise, going to try and upgrade from Olynyk)

-Sacramento wants Reggie? why?

Well holing onto the top 5 pick will be hard. LAkers schedule gets easier. Hill and Price will be back soon form injuries. Plus people forget, even if Lakers have 3rd or 4th or 5th pick. All it takes is some team to move up in the draft lottery, if they push Lakers out of top 5. We loose the pick.

- Martin has like 3 yrs left on his contract, he's 32, and injury prone. Nobody is going to trade for him...

- ???

- I'd be cool w/ that. Lance could either be a PG/SG hybrid player in the lineup or he could come off the bench. I'm speaking terms of the future.

- Wouldn't hurt for Boston to acquire him and give him a look. They have picks to spare + expiring contracts.

- They want to make the playoffs desperately. However it would look dumb if he didn't re-sign with them.

If the Lakers make moves at the deadline and after to move guys like Hill and Lin (if possible) and possibly buy out Boozer then they have a decent shot at dropping into the bottom 3. Unfortunately their schedule does get easier but that doesn't necessarily mean they are going to win all of those games. If they lose games to PHI, NY, and MIN then they will push those teams higher and help themselves out.

Right now it's going to be easier for them to make moves that will make the team worse than to make the team better and then win enough to not give the Suns a high pick. Their focus for the remainder of the season needs to be tanking, after that they can look to improve in the offseason.

Greetings!

I am a Heat fan who comes in peace. I would like your feedback on a trade idea. It is a trade between OKC - MIA - LAL. LA Lakers contribute Nick Young and Jeremy Lin. They receive Luol Deng and Norris Cole.

Kind of a pointless trade for me in the sense that we don't need to clear salary anyways and the front office would have to be especially enamored with paying Ellington if they were to trade away Young. Young for his salary and role is a pretty good contract.

trade for Sanders? Value at all time low and Bucks probably rather not have to buy him out, I highly doubt they will come to terms...Sanders has 4 years remaining on that contract he gona want most of that money. Say something like

Sanders, Bucks 1st (lotto protected)
for
Hill, either Hou pick or La's 2nd whichever they prefer (both would have similar value as Hou 1st is lower end of the 20's and our 2nd is higher in the 2nd and non guaranteed contract as well)

I know for us Sanders is super high risk but I also don't think the reward is all that high either, don't think he'll ever get back to where he was at his best. Just as long as he helps protect the paint behind Randle and board is all I would hope for. Cheaper ver. of D. Jordan IMO.

Why not just let Bucks buy him out instead of taking on his contract? From there the Lakers can offer him a contract to their liking.

Should we offer larry sanders a contract? Is he even a good defensive player anymore?

Just tried this trade on the ESPN trade machine and it works. Tell me what you guys think.

Lakers in: Gerald Green, Jason Terry, Miles Plumlee
Lakers out: Jordan Hill, Wayne Ellington, Robert Sacre

Houston in: Goran Dragic, Robert Sacre
Houston out: Donatas Motiejunas, Jason Terry

Phoenix in: Jordan Hill, Wayne Ellington, Donatus Montiejunas
Phoenix out: Gerald Green, Goran Dragic, Miles Plumee

Based on rumors...

Phoenix wants more big man depth. They got Jordan Hill, and a good prospect in Donatus. They also lose Goran which is rumored to be available.

Lakers appear interested in trading Jordan Hill. They trade for Jason Terry and Gerald green who are both expiring contracts (doesn't mess up our cap space) and they get a decent back up center on a rookie contract for 2 years in Plumlee. Because they trade away Jordan Hill, they are able to open up cap space to be able to resign Ed Davis this summer.

Houston is rumored to want Goran, and they do so with just trading Donatus and Jason Terry. They also get Sacre as a serviceable big man because they lose Donatus.

Note: Picks can be involved and traded somewhere, but most likely 2nd round picks.

Thoughts?
