Which shooters are available in the off-season? The way I see it that has to be our top priority. It was a major issue last season, and once again this year it's an issue that is ultimately going to be putting an end to our little mini-dynasty. We need someone else besides Fisher that can hit better than 40% on a consistent basis, preferably closer to 45%.

As for other deals, I'd look to get Kwame Brown for the vets min. He's an unrestricted FA and still a pretty good defensive player, and he's just a hell of a lot better than what we have right now outside of Gasol. What he provides, in limited minutes (15-20) is relief for Bynum so that Pau can stay at the 4 and Odom can move between the 3 and 4. IMO, this gives us good depth at the 3, 4, and 5.

I suppose if things work out that way, then we could potentially package Brown, Barnes, and Blake for a pure shooter, and spend our MLE on a PG that doesn't completely suck balls.

Artest and Fisher aren't going anywhere as those two are about as immovable as Mount Everest. I can deal with one more year of those two as long as we address our shooting issues.

lakers get a shooter, a young athletic wing, and an upgrade at PG. if the lakers dont want miller, they can waive him, tho i dont know what that would accomplish.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=3tenft9

blazers get some size to relieve LMA, which is really a huge win for them, and blake. not that they want him back, but at least they got production out of him. lamar is on an awesome contract for the production he gives.

then we can try to move on artest, probably for a big. the only place i could think of him being happy is NY. so maybe a S&T for turiaf?

maybe the lakers can try to move miller+brown+caracter/ebanks for an upgrade at PG. can felton be had for that? that would REALLY be awesome but i think denver might get better value than that, as they dont have to trade him.

lakers lineup:

felton/fisher
kobe/rudy
batum/barnes
gasol/kmart?? need a backup here
bynum/turiaf

i was probably laker biased in those trades, but they dont seem that unreasonable.

do you guys think ron will be back in 2012? i feel like ive read somewhere that, while he likes playing in LA, he doesnt consider it home. does he exercise his player option to go to NY or Brooklyn on a great discount?

he's crazy, so i wouldnt put it past him. in that case, he is basically an expiring next year, so his value goes up a bit.

LAL/ Jazz... Jefferson + Harris -> LAL

Post#125 » by sunevisions » Fri May 6, 2011 5:56 am

LAL Out: Bynum + S.Brown (S&T around 4 yrs 20-24mil) + Blake + 12 or 13 first round pick + filler
LAL In: Jefferson + Harris + Bell

Jazz Out: Jefferson + Harris + Bell
Jazz In: Bynum + S.Brown (S&T around 4 yrs 20-24mil) + Blake + 12 or 13 first round pick + filler

Reason Why:

LAL: likely out in 10-11 2nd, LAL need to re-structure and mantain title hope. Bynum is their only valuable asset. LAL fans will prefer Howard, but only Bynum can't match Magic requirment. If trade with Gasol, no reason Howard going to aging LAL.

Jefferson + Gasol + Odom still have dangerous low post game, still long enough. May be a little bit downside defense, also a little bit upside offense... ...

Harris may not be a pass first pg, but harris can score, and the main pt is Harris can defense PG especially nowadays... Harris is a huge upgrade from Fisher. Harris can share Kobe defense effort.

Bell also is a great role player for LAL, who can play SG or SF, shoot the 3, play defense.

LAL still be Title Contender during Kobe career.

Jazz: when trading out D-will, jazz on rebuild mode. Favors + Hayward is our rebuild core. Adding Bynum and pair with Favors, will make Jazz have a great future in low post, both are long, can defense, Great potential, can develop the offense game.

Bynum is the only player Jazz want in this trade, S.Brown may be our part-time starter, but he can scores 15 ppg when he start for Jazz, also he still be our valuable asset during our re-build.

Bynum + Favors + Hayward + 11 Net pick (no. 6) + 11 Jazz own Pick (no.12)

After the trade, Jazz still have some valuable asset for re-build:
1, Millsap
2, Okur expiring contact
3, S.Brown with decent contact
4, 12 GS protected pick

Hopefully we can win the lottery and get Irving or D.Williams to play pg or sf.
Or we can use our asset + pick to trade up.
e.g. Trade Millsap+ Okur+ 12 pick for Was pick + Lewis + fillers

Jazz can be contender during 13-14.

I want to know what LAL fans views??

resounding no. its so bad that i think ppl arent taking the time to explain.. but when you say defense would be a little worse.. al jefferson's defense is a joke. not saying hes a bad player overall but his interior D is a joke. jazz wouldnt mind unloading al jeff although statistically he was beasting for months. but they dont want to give devin harris. much less for brown and blake. eww

Hells to the no, nee to the gro.

The Lakers are not going to entertain any Bynum deals that don't get us back a defensive-minded big man. The only options are:

1. Dwight Howard, who has to become vocal next year and say that he's planning to walk.

2. CP3 + Okafor, which is unlikely now given that the NBA owns the Hornets.

3. Andrew Bogut, although I don't know why Milwaukee does that deal unless we also take on Cory Maggette and give them some picks or something.

... and that's pretty much it, I believe. The Lakers are very reluctant to even discuss trading Bynum, so it's going to take a nice package for us to get him.

gasol+artest for jefferson+parker

lakers get a PG that can actually penetrate and make plays, and is in general an upgrade at PG. jefferson gives us a more athletic option at SF, and maybe has something left in the tank. lakers can then try moving fisher/blake/brown (lol yeah right) for a 3pt shooter. maybe brown/blake for toney douglas? best part of this trade, fisher goes to the bench, where i acutally think he would be okay.

spurs get a legit big to give duncan one last go. i actually pop can fix whatever is wrong with gasol on the court, and as far as artest, i think he can keep him in line for one more year.

lakers:

parker/fisher
kobe/douglas
jefferson/barnes
odom/kmart?
bynum/????

other great thing about this is bynum becomes #1 post option, which i think he is ready for. lakers lose some size, yes, but parker takes some playmaking duties off of kobe, which really will help in the long run.

still need a backup big, but i really like that look. the only thing is i cant see us trading with SA, but imo, it makes both teams better so who knows.

I wouldn't mind Jamal Crawford coming off our bench. I also wouldn't mind seeing Kwame back as a banger big or if we can get Sasha cheap again if we go to a new, non-triangle system.

What are the odds of Battier settling for the MLE? Barea is available . Not sure how Butler will be after the injury, but I know him and Kobe have a good relationship and he might be able to be taken from Dallas.

How probable is it that we could sign Kirilenko? And what kind of money do you think he'd command? Around or somewhere less than Odom sounds appropriate to me.

AK would be a minor upgrade at SF, he really isnt what the lakers need. he isnt a playmaker, he isnt a great 3pt shooter (really no better than artest), and he is arguably a better defender than artest.

lakers are in desperate need of a PG, a 3pt shooter and a playmaker to relieve kobe. AK is none of those things.

Ok. I'm interested in hearing what candidates you have in mind for those requirements. Unless we get Calderon from Toronto and sign Peja I don't see how we end up getting all that.

i sure dont see how we're getting all of that either.

but theirs no point of bringing in AK and then having 5 SF (plus possibly kobe) to give minutes to, assuming barnes stays (which it looks like he will).

now if the lakers were to find a taker for artest, then i guess i could see AK coming in. but as long as he is here, i just dont get it. also i dont see anybody taking on artest, at least, outside of my fantasies.

ive listed more than a couple trades. i just dont see the lakers bringing in another SF unless artest is shipped out.
