I would rather tank if we cant keep dwight. it would only be a year and our contracts come of the books.

If Dwight does sign with Houston, the Rockets always have the option to trade Asik to another team for more pieces. They can easily find a bunch of suitors for a player of Asik's caliber.

Dwight isn't getting any younger and if Dwight's best interests is basket then signing outright is probably what he should do. I think it could be a few more seasons before the Lakers can untangle this mess they are in right now.

If Dwight leaves for whatever reason (I personally don't think he does), then it's time to check the sig.

If you say so Dock.

I'm personally not a fan of his.
Maybe why i'm being biased.
Would you let Dwight Walk or take Asik?

I don't like Asik's last year of contract of 15 mil per as it hinders our 2014 free agent plan. Honestly, if Dwight leaves I rather have a clean slate (assuming Nash retires by then) to work with in the 2014 off-season with the possibility of forming a big 3+Kobe (taking a much smaller contract, asking too much lol?). It could obviously backfire but I didn't think Heat would get theirs ether.

If S&T is possible I actually prefer Asik/Parsons/Beverley + picks till 2020 over Dwight. :tooth

don't think he'll go, his reptuation would take a big hit as everyone would view him as someone afraid of the big stage. He's going to have to live in the gym this offseason though, get that surgery if you need to but other than that he should put his fragil soul into basketball. keep tabs on those baby mamas, if he has another kid trade him

I'm torn....don't know what to think

I mean,is Dwight really worth 117 million? When guys like Marc Gasol get 58 million?
Based on his play this year, hell naw,he's not worth 117 million.....offer that on potential, that he'll get better?
Not sure man

I'd take Marc over Dwight right now ..

We're much better off assuming that Dwight will be a Laker going forward. The extra guaranteed year plus the fact it's the Lakers should be enough to get him to want to stay with the Purple and Gold regardless of how nightmarish his first season here turned out to be.

Parsons and Asik. who knows how much higher their ceilings can get.

Dwight. coming from injury and still able to deliver at less than 100% and may be 100% and better next season.

hmmmm....

I have a feeling Dwight is gonna take the money and run. He will want a trade at the first sign of struggle.

Dwight is a great rebounder and defender, but the question is are those max money traits considering his Kwame 2.0 hands, lack of FT and clutch, and attitude problems?

I don't even want to hear anymore about Houston sign and trades... I probably would take Chandler/Asik for half the money but that's not going to happen.

Max money is tough on cap room and hard to trade anymore, so it better be the right decision knowing we absolutely have to have a stud finisher beside him that he will defer to. (Kobe won't be around for much longer)

I'm not crazy about this fact but if you look around the league right now, Dwight is definitely a 'Max Player'...

It's unfortunate, but Dwight has been stuck in this Contract Pursuit hell in which teams are courting him like the only girl in an all-boys military school... As a result, he hasn't had to do a whole lot in the way of improving his game for several seasons now, add to that, his injury, and Dwight has been living off reputation for a while now.

So now the spot-light is on him... But he's lost some valuable time that could have been used to develop a mid range game.

Come on man, Kwame couldn't catch an alley-oop in his dreams. Dwight is no Hakeem but you guys are totally selling him short.

@ArashMarkazi
As Pau is talking to the media, Dwight is talking to Jeanie and touching the Larry O'Brien trophies in her office.

I hope Jeanie told her "Don't touch my fiance's sh*t". Dwight doesn't deserve to be the face of the franchise.

Dwight Howard's plan: Threaten to sign with HOU outright as leverage to force a trade to BKN (I mean, c'mon, even Morey thinks Dwight signing with HOU is "unrealistic").
Dan Fegan's plan: Tell Dwight about the mythical apron as it pertains to S&T, then tell him to sign with LAL.

Final result: LeBron convinces Dwight to sign with CLE, then joins Dwight there in 2014.
