I just want to reiterate, I never said I didn't want to travel or like to travel. I love it.

I just want to get experience so I can have more freedom 5 years from now when I am better off financially and decide on whether I want to get a masters, MBA or continue learning on the job.

as a neutral bystander east coast for life

the pace of the west coast is just a tad on the slow side for me hahaha

gek- if you don't enjoy cities then fair enough, to each their own. and if its hard finding a job elsewhere then nothing you can do about that. i wouldn't move to a different city just to live there without a stable income LOL

also the thing about that concept gek- the idea of delaying things you're interested in now in the present (such as travelling), and putting them aside for a few years down the track- is that those things may be of less interest to you in 5 years.

say you meet the future mrs gek and have a kid in 5 years- then your interests/priorities will be on your family...and you may not get to travel and experience the world for a long long time!

You keep mistaking traveling for living somewhere. I don't have the money to travel without having a job first. Plain and simple. My family can't foot the bill. Therefore to travel I need a job.

I could stay in grad school and do conferences as travel like I've been doing, but it's not what I want to do with my life so I'm getting a job.

Prefer the west coast. Better weather overall.
There are snobby people everywhere BTW.

yo Gek I know this is a cliche but:

"Growth starts once you come out of your comfort zone."

weighing all factors of course. for me this is only applicable if you're "afraid" of trying out new things. regardless of your decision bro, we support you.

The only thing I'm honestly afraid of is going bankrupt/into massive debt early in my life. There are multiple legitimate reasons for this that I'm not getting into on the internet. I want to build a somewhat of a stable nest egg and then go from there. I'm not worried about regretting things because I don't regret what I do... that's a terrible way to live. I enjoy my life, enjoy where I am at and am happy about where I'm going. I have fun, go places, meet people and do things. I don't look back and don't let things outside of my control stress me out (a side effect of this is stressing about things in my direct control, such as my financial situation). It is what it is though and I am who I am - no more, no less. Not trying to be something I'm not, but not letting what I'm not keep me from going for something if I want to do it.

Getting a job is coming out of my comfort zone tbh. The easiest and most comfortable path for me is to go get my PhD. It's the one sure thing I could do and what people expect of me (go ahead and psychoanalyze that if you wish)... I'm trying to get into industry and fast track my contributions to society by maximizing the translational aspect of my work.

i would say the only reason for a potential intellectual superiority is ivy league colleges. other than that its imo pretty dumb to say that one coast of a country is smarter than another.
