Re-sign AD, DH, RR, MM. Lock down Kostas.

Danny Green @ $15,365,854 is our biggest salary to use to improve via trade. He’s a tradable player. Teams in need of his experience and defense and a #28 pick:

~ Wizards (Bertans S&T 2+1 $18M per). I’d include Kuz S&T in return but then we need more back than Bertans.

~ Pistons (they have Svi, get him back). Snell and Svi for Green and #28 (+filler) fits the 2021-22FA plan. Svi plays defense.

How about a S&T Kuzma for Svi straight up? I’d do it. Potential for champ experience.

~ Chicago (K Dunn). Not a shooter but a lengthy wing defender.

There are many more teams in need of wing defensive role players young and old. If we want to trade DG, we‘d better make sure to get lots back.

~ Lakers. Let’s face it, DG’s team defense is truly world class; top notch, elite. We can simply stay put with DG and be more than just fine if a trade offer doesn’t improve us.

I was certain he’d make that three in game 5 and was disappointed, too, but we should remember all the things he did right all season. I’d be thrilled if we keep him. He’s one seriously intelligent player, almost never makes a mental mistake. He’s been this team’s Mr reliable, like Rick Fox used to.

GENERAL FOCUS
We need role players, not an expensive veteran like CP3. Vet leadership will come here on a discount, no need to pay for that. Role players can be younger.

Targets:
Dwight Howard
Rajon Rondo
Josh Jackson
Davis Bertans
Svi Mykhailuk
Serge Ibaka

Tradable (reluctantly so) players:
Green (stays unless amazing offer)
Bradley (I’d like to keep him)
Kuz (I’d like to extend him, 1+1(PO)
JaVale

I’d prefer if we’d shop:
Q Cook
KCP
#28

Untradable players:
AD, LBJ, AC, THT, Kostas

No more Dion Waiters or JR Smith or Jordan Clarkson chucker types with no defense. Please.

Jerami Grant? Yes.

Green for Ibaka? Yes.

We don't need to give away the 28th or THT in a sign and trade, do we? The opposing team has no leverage.

I'm curious what it would take to tie up Rondo and KCP? Are we willing to give up an exception to get Rondo back?

Personally, as good as he was during the playoffs, I'm not willing to pay him anything over the 3.6m BAE, given his injury history. If he finds someone to pay him more than that, Good luck to him. Will still be a fan, except when he plays the Lakers.

Willing to roll the dice on Jeff Teague / DJ Augustin kinda PGs for minimums / BAE.

Rich Paul's gonna ask for 15m+ for KCP, just because Danny Green gets it, and probably a really long term contract like JR and TT, which is almost certainly gonna make the Lakers regret it after Lebron's gone. He's not gonna walk, because Lebron needs him, but they're very capable of the long stretched out negotiations, well into the season start. Lebron seems to genuinely like Pelinka and Jeahny, which could help, but I haven't known Rich Paul to throw out discounts. And honestly, I don't think we can let him walk like Rondo / Dwight.

If we got jermani grant that would be amazing but I don’t see us making any real moves to re sign and maybe get a another vet

I heard Rondo has an early birds rights and bird rights for KCP however per reports, Rob is trying to save cap room for a major freeagent in 2021.
KCP should be reminded that he really underperformed and therefore was overpaid his first year here. For me, the key here is Avery Bradley. If he opts in, then he can take his spot.
2 ways to deal with Rondo, first do a wink wink deal like Riley with Haslem who declined a 12 mil offer from Dallas to sign like an 8 yr vet minimum where he still got paid last year at 40 yrs old. Instead, tho, Jeannie hires him as an assistant in 2 years.
Or, overpay him this year with a team option next year....
I like 2 way 3 & D players like Matthews and Bazemore but I'm not sure they are attainable. We fans need to consider that other FA's either are restricted or have player options.

They're saying free agency will start November 21st or 22nd. Not set in stone but that's what they're predicting.

THT absolutely not, in my opinion. He’s a future star. I’m sure Rob will make good use of #28 but we’re not exactly in rebuild mode. Win now.

Whomever doesn’t contribute now, trade to improve unless it’s a pick with serious upside, like THT.

I don’t mind trading an unproven typical #28 pick in order to lock down the right and ready to go role player.

Agreed. AD, Lebron, Caruso and THT are the only untouchables. As I said, if we get Grant and Ibaka giving up Green, MLE and fillers, I'll even be up for trading away KCP's improved contract for Bertans if he's feeling the purple and gold.

I not sure about our Bird rights on Rondo. I thought he became a UFA, declining the player option.

Would be a huge upgrade, but unfortunately, we don't have the assets to tempt NO any more.

At this point I'm ready for any type of trade. I'll admit I'm getting pretty excited about basketball starting up again.

Just a question. If Deng's contract is off the book, will we have any cap space to absorb more salary when we trade Mcgee and Cook out?

If yes, I wouldn't be shocked if Pelinka pull off a trade to get a better player by only trading Mcgee, Cook and maybe the #28 to improve the roster and "help" the other team lowering their salary commitment next season. Mcgee, Cook and the #28 along with that 5M cap space is already 13-14M. If we are still over the soft cap after removing Deng's contract, the move is practically useless?

Absolutely great to hear about Bradley opting in because of possibilty losing KCP. Can you send link please?
Seems like everyone is itching to trade and Green and Kuzma, to a point I understand the logic but you only do it if the player/s coming in will be utilized by Vogel. Pelinka committed 6 mil to Cook and his main roll was reduced to giving high fives to Lebron.

heard on Trevor lane's podcast, there might might be a YouTube video of it. I will look see if I can find it.

edit: at the 2:30 mark he says that there are rumors that hey will opt in. my bad I thought he said in his podcast that they did.

How good are this guy's sources really?

He says we got eyes on Ibaka later in the video. As p*ssed as I am at hearing TT might get paid again, I'd be thrilled if Ibaka's really on our radar. He was my 2nd highest priority trade target.

He's coming off a 3Y / 65m contract. 118m in career earnings so far. His contract expectations can be a tricky negotiation topic for Pelinka. On one hand he has been a huge part of the Raps title and 2019-20 season, but he also just turned 31. Lakers have the lure of rings this year, so hopefully if he takes a 2/3 + 1 player option / 36m {9.3m(MLE) + 13.3m + 13.3m} deal, we could have a seriously elite defender and stretch big tied up for this entire championship window.

Dude's a great team first intelligent and athletic defender and a 36-38% 3 point shooter for 8 years now. Great locker room funny guy hopefully like McGee too.

Caruso might be the best value in the entire NBA when you look at salary and production. DO NOT TRADE HIM LAKERS !!!!

Caruso is definitely great value.

The best value contract is Don Luka by a mile though. Top 5 player for 7 mil.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
