I agree that's the best scenario

You have to be a child if you believe that.

A recent All Star/MIP in Markkanen for a role player in Reaves who is a traffic cone defensively and routinely gets targeted.

Markkanen is also only one year older.

Explain why that would satisfy Utah?

There is nothing wrong with the OP asking questions of Lakers and other fans what direction/moves they should make.

Most Lakers posters I have seen seem pretty switched on and realistic about their team and where they are going, definitely not trollish or arrogant unlike say oh Philly fans who constantly trash Denver and Joker and now think they are championship contenders cause they signed Boy George.

Lakers fans (and I hate defending them at the best of times) do not deserve all this shade and insults coming their way (least from a thread spamming perspective)

I get the uneasy impression many Lakers fans on RealGm are now too reserved to make threads discussing their team and players on the general board, out of being abused for posting Laker content.

They are entitled to their opinions and share their views with the rest of the NBA community here (I do find the many Lebron threads a bit tiresome but I have the easy choice not to read them)

Cut Lakers Stans here some slack and also not have Laker GB threads hijacked by cynics, they are and sadly always will be the biggest franchise in Hoops history and there is always something newsworthy to discuss about LAL

i think ad is collateral fodder amidst the wheeling and dealings of klutch/lebron. his importance is magnified by the fact that the lakers have ZERO. that's what teams do when they sign with lebron - they give up their future. but ultimately ad was part of that whole thing with klutch that set a very bad precedent about stars BREAKING contracts. so in this tsunami of junk, ad is a pawn in a grass hut. we all knew this was going to happen - that it won't last for the lakers OR ad once lebron leaves

they'll have bronny thought at least

well if they dont do anything stupid they actually have future assets as in
dont tank this season , its the last uncontrolled first. ( the jazz one if its top lottery they keep)

so the "post lebron era" could be a ton of capspace, tradable semi young assets and actual first rounders to keep if "process" or trade if quality FA+ trades.

the good amidst the bad is we're in parity

parity is actually THE PERFECT time to start over.
you need a savvy FO to weed the shaft from the wheat. i don't know if the lakers are them,,,,but there's a saying in the art field that when the economy is bad it's the best time to overhaul or reassess inventory. the lakers can overhaul and with good FO they won't "dwell in that cellar", so they're engaged and the fans are engaged. the fans won't go find some other sport to follow

If Utah does the trade, they will look for picks mostly. And Lakers picks dated after Lebron retirement are valuable assets, as they potentially will be a really bad team.

So the trade doesn't have to be "equal" from a player perspective. If you covet picks and you get some young players back, that typically does it. The only caveat here is if other teams are willing to offer more. It's a demand/supply market.

Davis got one chip with Lebron, but after that was total disaster for him.

The Lakers need just ONE big defensive wing who can hit a 3, but instead they have like 4 scoring SG's and are maybe angling to sign Derozan?

Max Christie
Austin Reaves
Dalton Knecht
JHS
Derozan or Russell
Not even counting Bronny.

Roster's a mess. They have to make up their minds about what they are. Do they keep the younger ones in this group or the older ones? Cause you need to trade some of these guys to balance the roster. Prince, Hachimura and Lebron can't guard elite wings. Reddish and Vanderbilt still can't hit their 3's adequately. These players are all overlapping on each other's skills. They can really use a high quality backup 5 to open up the possibility of legit double big lineups with Davis.

They really have to do something about this if they want to be serious in the West. If Vanderbilt takes that step and improves from 3PT range, they could have something:

Davis
Lebron
Vanderbilt
Derozan
Reaves (only possible at PG because Lebron/Derozan will be running things anyway)

Then sign Bridges and/or Trent with the LeBron cut.

AD
LeBron
Bridges/Trent
Reaves
LaVine

This is what I'm somewhat hoping for I "hate" all three of those players but if it means getting rid of Lavine I'll deal with it and maybe we can flip them for something at the deadline

What’s funny about this is that the lakers and jazz recently traded that brought them Vanderbilt and Beasley and people thought it was too good for the lakers that it had to be Ainge doing the Lakers a favor.

going from that to now having to be careful just talking to him on the phone is a crazy progression fans have made

The Lakers do not have the assets to trade for Markkanen. They can currently trade 2 1sts (2029 and 2031). Other teams can blow that offer out of the water. The only way the Lakers can get Markkanen is if he says “I will only re-sign with the Lakers”

hey thanks man. i sincerely appreciate that. honestly, i just want to talk ball with nba fans. i used to be active on nba twitter but that place got way too toxic, and that was before the overall mess that the platform has become. i have no issue throwing jabs back and forth with fans of other teams. i actually enjoy it quite a lot... but its gotta come from a place of it all being in good fun.
