Re: Official 14-15 NCAA/Draft Discussion Thread [ft. TyCobb]
After getting Clarkson in the second, I would like to take another shot with the 34th pick for a good role player. I don't see too many scenarios that losing the 34th is worth it to jump up four spots. Maybe Justin Anderson or someone who fell for whatever reason. We have so many roster spots to fill anyways. If they don't want to bring in 3 rookies, maybe the 27th could get packaged for a established role player. That has more value to me than moving up a few spots. Either way I trust Mitch.

I think we're gonna go fishing with that second pick. Too much youth makes for longer development time. We need a balance of vets to youth to have a decent team.

Wonder what the price would be for a Lee + Barnes dump from the Warriors.

Most people on here would answer that question with a resounding "yes", but I say no.
Both Clarkson and Russell both like and need the ball in their hands, and although Russell does possess really good catch and shoot ability, I don't they compliment each other well at all offensively or defensively. Those in favor of this marriage, I think, are just practicing wishful thinking.
Russell needs a backcourt mate who is an excellent defender who can guard both backcourt positions and shoot a little off the ball (think Shumpert or Beverly).
Clarkson has the look of a third guard to me. He screams Vinnie Johnson (w/o the jump shot). His ideal mate, however, would be a very unselfish, cerebral, long-armed defensive guy with a really wet jumper (think Kirk Hinrich back in the day, Eric Snow, Brian Shaw, David Wingate/Nate McMillan with a jump shot).
Mario has played on nba TV before. They've shown his euro league games not just highlights in the afternoon before

If Okafor isn't avail should we try and trade our 2nd pick for Cousins? We got the 2nd pick. Pretty good pick this year

Cool. I've never seen him. Not that it matters too much anymore as it relates to the Lakers, but what's your take in him blo?

Not sure what you mean by going fishing, but I completely agree with the ideal of surrounding young guys with a lot of wily vets.

Wow. Just posted about him.
Vaughn is a 6'5 combo, scoring guard who shoots, passes, and defends. On the downside, he is a little erratic, looks to have short arms (like Clarkson), and isn't super athletic.
I like him a whole helluva lot.
It may be sac religious to say this around here, but I like him more than Clarkson -- better passer, better shooter, better defender, better overall scorer.
I want him at 34 though.

was just talking about how david lee just fell off the earth when just some seasons ago he and kevin love seemed to be battling it out at top pf in the league with all their double doubles. i wouldnt packaging our picks for him.Slava wrote:TyCobb wrote:It's possible. based on King fans response it would take that 2nd pick, Randle, future picks, maybe even 50% ownership of the lakers before they even consider trading Cousins

won't turn 19 until August, so one of the youngest players in the draft. Either way, at that point the draft is a crap shoot, there's no way of predicting who we draft at that spot.

The asset in that trade is Harrison Barnes, SF for the future.

Lee's an expiring next year and Barnes has been great in the playoffs. With them having a great shot at winning the title right now, I find it hard to believe they'd shake up a great young core just to dump Lee, when it doesn't look like even as dead weight that he'd affect their summer too much. IMO they'd be really short-sighted to deal Barnes.

is there any dbags like Barnes in this draft that we can get with Hou pick?? When I say Dbag I mean it in a good way, a guy who'll stand up for our players and do the dirty stuff.

Harrell could actually be a slightly better fit next to Okafor than Randle or as the 3rd big man in a 3 big rotation, kinda like the Bynum - Pau - LO set up.
