LA getting prepared if Ball gets drafted by Boston. Fultz, surely is number 2 on their list.

Feel like at best this is Boston trying to see if they can spook you guys into giving something up for 1. Would be shocked if Fultz didn't end up in Boston/Ball in LA.

If Ainge tried that Lakers should switch off their phone for a few days and let Lavar raise all the stink he can before coming to Boston with a low ball offer or else just stick to fultz, the better prospect.

Yeah, Ainge is notorious for trying to punk other front offices. Best move in this situation is just to ignore him IMO. He has the first pick and is going to come out of this draft with who he thinks is the best player in it. No need to give him anything extra.

Woj on his podcast saying there is a possibility Jackson could go number 1. Apparently 2 of the top 6 GMs in the lottery think he might be the best player even ahead of Fultz. Also states that the Lakers are really torn between Ball and Jackson.

Jackson is by the best defender and the best motor.

Though Russell is a good shooter he is 6 -5 Not 6 -6 with long arms.
A good defender can shut him down if needed. But, can he shut down a great shooter?

Long term Ball /Jackson is greater than Ball/Russell

Shooters can be found in free agency or through the draft.

Lakers need to improve their quickness and defense.

Lakers need to improve their shooting too, not make it worse. Trading a guy with AS potential for a defensive specialist is insanity.

There's so many Dlo hopefuls it's boggling. It's like we are watching two different people? Dlo is far from a lock to be an all star caliber player. If we keep him and cement him as a corner Stone moving forward then I hope to God for our sake he turns out to be. But it's homer goggles to believe he is a pure lock to be an all star. JJ has a much higher ceiling than Dlo. For almost the same reasons why Ingram has a higher ceiling than Dlo. Which is why he's our only untouchable piece. Dlo is limited.

JJ for Dlo is a steal for us. If Dlo **** the bed next year we are stuck in a situation where we will have to commit long term money to him or trade him for pennies to the dollar.. this trade for a top three pick will be long gone next year if Dlo fails. So how sure are we that Dlo is the can't miss all star everyone's making him out to be?

Exactly what I feel. JJ or DLo hmm I am not sure why so many are hope ful about DLo All star if he does make
it I see a low tier All star. I don't really see him as better than Jamal Crawford. Crawford can shoot and dribble with moves.

My thoughts exactly. He might try to play Jackson at the 2 and I'm expecting Hayward to join Brad Stevens.

You never can never tell with relationships, agent favors, future plans, league manipulation, trade considerations, etc. why teams bring in players for workouts, but they're allowed to so why not do it? And, oh by the way, the Lakers aren't saying any of this - it's all purely speculation. I like it, makes all these discussions extremely fun this time of year.

It certainly beats twiddling our thumbs until draft day when we are absolutely, without question, 100%, lock it in... drafting LONZO BALL.

Question: what is Lonzo great at? Playing unselfish, making others better, shooting 3s.
Question: what type of style does coach want to implement? Playing unselfish, make your teammates better, shooting 3s.
Question: what type of style does the team that just went 15-1 in the playoffs play? Unselfish, plus up teammates, shooting 3s.

Best prospect. Best fit. Doesn't happen all that often. You're blind if you don't think this is world's colliding.

Gonna be fun.

And if Jackson goes #1, I'm going to be scratching my head. Jaylen Brown has shown a ton of promise and brings the same skillset as Jackson. And it's not like Jackson is a transcendent talent* like Anthony Davis or LeBron.

But hey, if Ainge's stupidity gives us Markelle Fultz, then I'm all for that.

Chad Ford stating that out of all the execs and scouts he has polled, Fultz was the only one to be seen unanimously as having superstar potential. Ball came in the second.

In terms of pure statistical value, D'Angelo was the 38th best player in the league after he started getting real minutes last year. He was only 20/21 years old.

You know where Russell Westbrook ranked at that same age, getting the same minutes? #190. That's why us Laker fans are hopeful. Pretty simple stuff.

Jamal Crawford comp?

Makes sense why only Fox is the only one out of the top 5 in the mocks, is working out for the Sixers. They might go with Fox and Monk (if he is still available). Sac might be drooling over Jackson.

I don't think Ainge is being stupid. He's the one who took a chance on Jaylen when he was projected between 5-10. If Jackson has his attention, I don't think he's being careless. I doubt he passes on Fultz ultimately. I would say there's a better probability that we pass on Ball for Jackson then the Celtcs passing on Fultz for Jackson.

My gut feeling tells me Lakers will pick JJ. They will go with a player that can play multiple positions.

Personally, I like Lonzo.

Agreed. If Ainge wants to hand us the best player in the draft I'm all for it. Although I think this is just all talk, Fultz will go number 1.

Yeah i don't have much hope in the Celtics passing on Fultz. Neither do the Lakers it seems since they seem so focused on Ball and Jackson.

I'd love for the Celtics to try to leverage an asset from the Lakers in exchange for swapping draft positions.

Lakers can simply draft Fultz at that point and leave Ainge with egg on his face. This is why we'll never see this happen.

If the reports are true, and its all speculation on our parts, Celtics were disappointed in the Fultz workout and might be one of the teams that has JJ as the best player in the draft (Kings might be the other, and for their part have preliminarily brokered a #5 and #10 for #3 trade, thus the promise pick to JJ). Fultz is working out for Lakers now because him and his agent arent getting good feedback from the Celtics. Lakers are enamored with both JJ and Ball.... until the Fultz workout. So it might be an egg on Ainge's face situation if Lakers trade up and pick JJ if we are reading the current situation correctly.

Its pretty clear that it wasnt the Lakers who promised JJ. And JJ's rise is turning the draft on its head.

I'd love Fultz for the 2nd pick for the Lakers.
