Best tacos I had in LA were out of a truck on Huntington in El Soreno...

some good stuff there, my wife's uncle has a shoe shop right in the middle of that area.

best is always in east la on whittier blvd or in boyle heights on cesar chavez. can't go wrong with either location.

This pretty much, but I feel weird about health issues.

Ive been also craving an Argentinian 'Asada' with some chimichurri. I dont eat red meat usually, but for this i always make an exception.

the item that i usually steer clear from are the churros, they never replace the oil for those.

They don't grill anything, it's all fried or stewed in grease. I hear it's more like central Mexican food rather than the coastal stuff we get used to in So Cal.

Basically you either leave with a coating of fat on your tongue or your tongue on fire from all the processed hot sauce they put on it to hide it's general grossness. And that's at the expensive restaurants.

I stick to freebirds mostly, and there was a Baja Fresh here for a couple months but they "Tex-Mexed" the menu and it closed within a couple months.

I don't eat at any of the franchise chains but the family run restaurants like Bertha Mirandas and Los Compadres are awesome. Their food is freshly cooked and it's not all greasy and oily. I'm more than willing to pay the extra money for places like that.

I eat fast food once every two weeks. If I'm looking for a quick meal I would much rather go to some place like Qdoba rather than Taco Bell, El Pollo Loco, ect ect. That stuff is no good for you. I grew out of that phase once I left high school.

I like el pollo hermanos

But their owner creeps me out, something about his surgical manner or lifeless eyes is unnerving

I heard that if you cause a disturbance, he often brandishes a boxcutter to intimidate said miscreants.

The kookiest part is that he spends all day talking to some old bald guy with a goatie rather than take stock of his establishment.

Chicken is great too

found a sick b-ball court at one of the wineries... and i went up to dunk only to realize I am freaking getting old and gravity bound. lame. I used to block 6'9" dudes above the rim and now seriously I'm not sure how long it would take me to a single half assed dunk in. Enjoy your young legs if you got em man. I'm not even that old, just past the anti gravity era I guess.
