Funny....I always took the title in the opposite direction. Usually when someone says you "got what you deserved", it kind of denotes something not so great. Typically it's followed with "I hope you learn something from this, young man".
That's what I thought. In fact the first time I opened the page, I expected a giant political food-fight. Maybe next week eh? About the only thing I wanna say politically, is I can't wait for the 7th....when the commercials end. Give me back my Arfollian&Arfollian commercials with the unbearable "Enya" music. Let's get back to our good ol' 4th meal commercials.
Tell me what I need...not what to think!!!

Adulting thoughts 101:
So we bought a house and lot and currently paying for the 14-month downpayment. After that, we'll be applying for a housing loan from a bank and pay a monthly amortization for the next 20 years. Amount loaned will be dependent on the remaining balance from the downpayment.
Question: Is it smart to apply for a housing loan from a cooperative and pay that amount for the last downpayment so that we'll be paying less amortization to the loan from the bank for the next 20 years? Or will I be paying more in the long run?

Re: Community Thread LXI: The President We Deserve
Its been over 10 years since I'm familiar with mortgages especially in California. So I'm not sure if my opinion will help.
If you're credit is good and you qualify for a fixed rate and your monthly amortization payments are affordable to your monthly income for the next 20 years, then I don't see any issues.
If you are looking for an adjustable rate and think its better because it's lower that will largely depend how you will see the market in the next 20 years.
Either case, its always a good idea to pay as much on up front so you won't continue to keep paying interest on money borrowed.
If it's a big house, rent out one of the rooms and the living room to all the Chinese and mexican immigrants flooding the market to pay off the mortgage. Building a pot farm in the basement is another option as marijuana dispensaries are in demand.

Yeah thinking of the same thing. Will the
- annual interest I'll pay from the loan for the last downpayment plus the lesser monthly amortization
be better than the
-monthly amortization plus its interest

Consulted an economist and his simple answer was, "Trying to pay without borrowing is always the best option."

Go with the most affordable, cheaper option.
If that doesn't work do whatever hermes says.
