Gin was basically discovered to be a mixer. When the Irish colonial army was stationed in Srilanka they needed to drink tonic water to fight malaria and other mosquito spread diseases and since the tonic was bitter they started mixing it with gin to make it more drinkable.

I disagree some alcohols are meant to be mixed.

My cousin in law is from the Mil and is a Badger alumni. Dude partied with Brett Favre at his frat house once. He told me Favre used to sniff lines of Jack Daniels
