Think of it this way, what team can give up more than Bynum+filler or Pau+LO and still have a legitimate chance to win a championship? Is there a single one besides the lakers? No, that is why dwight is coming here if he leaves.

Look I wasn't referring to you directly, so don't get your Victoria Secret's in a wad. I'm just stating that people are going to be surprised how much we'll truly have to give up for one of these stars. We won't be the only ones vying for their services and teams will come with much better packages leaving us to give up more than what I've seen these trade scenarios suggest. And you fail to mention that we're getting Paul in my scenario. It will take more than Bynum and Odom for ORL or NOH to trade away their franchise talents. Especially when one of the players will only play for 40 games. The only way we get Dwight is through a trade with Orlando. Unless the F.O. wants to blow up the entire roster to clear cap space. Which would raise the question, why would Dwight go to a gutted team with nothing but a 33 yr old Bryant and a bunch of scrubs?

i think theres a slight chance we could get a late lotto pick for Odom, from the Bucks, Kings, or
maybe Pistons. then it would make more sense to trade gasol for the #2/filler because we would have 2 lotto picks + Bynum to offer for a guy like CP3 or Howard.

#2/#7/Bynum/salary filler for CP3/Okafor

or

#2/#7/Bynum/salary filler for Howard/Bass

YEAH!

Let's play with a three way idea:

- Wolves take Williams

- Detroit is on the clock and says hmmm L.A. is willing to take Maxiell entirely for the #8 pick. That's 12m in total savings. Detroit says ok fine we're interested. Lakers get the 8.

- Lakers then turn to a third team like Pheonix and say would you give us Lopez+13 for Odom+Caracter.

Lakers then deal Lopez, 13, and 8 for Minnesota's 2.

The Lakers total salary stays about the same including the Williams pick.

Sam Amick of SI tweeted a few minutes ago that there is a possibility of a Odom for Igoudala trade tomorrow with Artest as a filler to make the money work.

I think I did it.

- Igoudala to Minny.
- #2+Milicic to L.A.
- Odom+Tolliver to Philly.

Philly gets Odom and Tolliver for depth on the front-line and major financial savings.

Minny gets Igoudala at what is essentially a nice price of only 7m a year.

Lakers reduce salary and get the guy they want.

^I like it. Gives us a good young player with the #2 pick(Irving or Williams) and a solid backup center

that is an absolute raping for the lakers. i dont see any reason why the 76ers would be willing to downgrade iggy to artest in order to get odom, when they have brand AND young giving them good minutes at PF. just doesnt make any sense.

but if it happened, we could target more of a shooting PG like Gibson and sign a guy like Kmart for the MLE and we'd be absolutely amazing. iggy takes some of the playmaking duties from kobe and is still the defensive stopper that artest was.

Gibson/Fisher/Blake
Kobe/Gibson
Iggy/Barnes/Ebanks
Gasol/Kmart/Caracter
Bynum/????

plus whoever we get with those 2nd rounders.

If that were the case then Philly would be better off not including the Lakers in the deal and just do a Iggy - number 2 swap. Philly could draft Williams with the number 2 pick. Philly is better off with Williams since they are closer to rebuilding than they are to contending without Iggy.

Nah but Philly wants the financial savings. Minny won't do the deal without bad salary going out. They won't do an Iggy-2.

I'm very high by the way on a possible Iggy deal because if you have Iggy:

PG- Blake
SG- Bryant
SF- Igoudala
PF- Gasol
C- Bynum

Works really well. Iggy brings the extra play-making we wanted from the PG spot while Blake provides the shooting and decent defense.

Rumor is that we have offered Odom for Iggy ... I don't like that all that much as a straight up trade ... would rather include Blake and Walton and take back Lou Williams though Philly is trying to save $$$ ... that said I'd take Iggy and the #14 for Odom and the #56 and #58 ... if we pulled the trigger on that trade I would still be very sad to see Odom go but if we got Iggy and a backup big like Morris, Vecevic or Faried or a starting PG it's sort of a no-brainer trade and we'd have to do it.

I would think if picks are involved in this trade the Lakers would trade 41st and 46th picks for Phillys 16th which I dont see them trading but it would be nice if they did.

The 76'ers really want to save money and whereas Iggy makes a guaranteed 56.5mil over the next 4 years, Odom is only guaranteed 17.1 million over the next 2 years .... that is a serious financial savings for Philly.

Odom cannot be traded for Iggy straight up as the financials don't work ... we would have to include either Shannon Brown or the expiring contract of Ratliff along with Ebanks, etc ... if we did that we could definitely demand that the #16 pick come our way in exchange for 2 of our 2nd rounders.

how could we demand anything when the sixers are giving up the best player in the deal?

Artest is the other rumored piece to this rumored trade I think his contract makes the money work.

^ You're kidding right? Odom is a big and perhaps the most multi-skilled big in the NBA .... Iggy is a wing player that can't shoot with a horrible contract.

We can make the demands.

I'd rather have the #2 pick than Iguodala tbh. If we can trade Odom to Philly, Iguodala to Minn, and the #2 to us, I'd be more than estatic. We'd essentially be getting the #2 just for Odom, then we could draft Knight and still have the core of Pau and Bynum to contend with.

That makes sense and honestly I would hate to see the two NY knuckleheads go but would be happy for them if they left together to go join their childhood buddy Elton Brand ... they all played AAU ball together back in the day and that locker-room would be one fun, relaxed place to hang out!

If we are giving up Odom and Artest than I sure hope we are also including Blake and getting back Iggy, Lou, the exp. con. of Songalia and the #16 pick.

Songalia can't be traded because he is a pending free agent and Im guessing Lou is a big part of their plans for the long term. The picks im not sure about I'm guessing there will be picks involved because it is a draft day trade but I dont know if the Sixers are willing to give away the 16th pick.
