Maybe if everything clicks and no injuries but still probably not. West is wide open in that it’s still 10 team heavy. You look at last year and who is falling out of the top 8 to make room for Lakers, Dallas with KP and cap space, and then NO on top of that? Spurs? Utah with Conley? Clippers bombing FA? Cuz it would take take a lot of things going right for NO to get 9th even.

They aren’t a playoff team.

- BI won’t become a 20ppg guy
- Zo and BI will still suck at free throws
- They have no 3 point shooting
- They lack rebounding
- They got no shot blocking
- BI and Zo won’t play 60 games

BI was already a 20ppg player... I mean he averaged 18.3 for the season last year, but after Dec last season when he had to carry more of the scoring load, he averaged 22.8.

BI averaged almost 34 min a game over the last 2 years... Which is just almost criminal... So if he missed time, it's not cause he's fragile, it's probably because they over-used the hell out of him...

Also, his FT percentage was actually pretty good outside of Dec last season (about the time the wheels fell off with the AD thing)... Leaving Dec out of the equation, he was a 70% FT shooter.

BI for a month or so averaged 20. BI for his career hasn’t hit 20 after 3 years and plenty of minutes. He wasn’t one at duke. He wasn’t a guy who had even notched more than 26 in a game in high school. He’s not magically hitting 20 in New Orleans sharing the ball with Holiday, Zo, and Zion when he’s not really a cutter, shooter, or free throw hitter. You can say but that month, and I’m going to say buy his basketball laugh has shown he’s always been 17-18 a night for a season.

34mpg isn’t that much at 21. Kobe was averaging much more than that while being hand checked and hit. Lebron, Wade, Melo were averaging more than that. You can say that it unfair, but he is a lotto pick and it’s time to live up the the billing. He’s not facing doubles, he’s not getting hand checked, and he’s not the primary ball handler which means he’s just overly fragile since he hasn’t hit 60 games either of his past two years. And his load will be much harder when Kuzma isn’t out there scoring for him or lebron or KCP the year before for that matter to free up the perimter. He’s going to be doubled and get beat up, he won’t magically become tough and an iron man

And his free throw percentage is the norm. He was a 68% in college. He’s been a 62, 68, and 67 in the nba. He shoots them like he’s a center and it costs you games. Him, Bron, and Zo cost them last year with what they left at the line. It’s magnified in NOLA where every point will count

He’s a case of vaunted potential, which in actuality is stagnation as he’s always been the same basic player since high school in terms of points, shooting, style, skills, and body ...

Should we allow Willie Cauly-Stein a “fresh start”?

There are two sides of the ball. BI is a badass defender, will be elite. Combine that with the high percentage scorer and you have a member of a winning team.

He's a restricted free agent but I don't mind giving him an offer. The question is how much the Kings are willing to match? If we ain't landing a third max guy then my bet for that center position is Nikola Vucevic. WCS is a good replacement if we missed out on him too.

Depending on our cap space after our next move, I think he might become a viable option at C. Haven’t watched him much but remember being impressed when we’ve faced him.

If he wants to leave, Kings might not want to match. He could be a steal if we time it right. I’d low-ball him right now or explore a S&T with them. He might want to win rings. A few players do. He sees the opportunity... The money would surely follow a ring.

CONTENT EDIT:
A-hem! What I’m trying to say is, if you translate WCS’ statement today about a fresh start elsewhere, I think it translates to:

“HEY PELINKA, LOOK OVER HERE, PLEASE LET ME PLAY WITH BRON, AD, KLAY, KUZMA!!!”
