Fish chasing Ray around all those screens means a few easy fouls on Boston's bigs every game. Fish refuses to duck under screens; maybe KG will get caught for a few of those moving pics

Danny Darko wrote:Kobe will gard Rondo, and he'll make him a jump shooter, which he's not. Also, you can be sure that Phil will know everything about the Celtics "new" offense. There's a reason he's about to start putting Red in the rearview mirror for rings.

Kobe no doubt can be effective guarding Rondo. How often do you guys see Phil using kobe on rondo? I feel that if its for long stretches it will detract from Kobe offensively, possible negating the desired effect of stopping Rondo. And if Kobe is guarding Rondo what do you do with fisher? It seems that fishers slow foot speed is being deflected from having to guard Rondo to Ray Allen. I dont see how that is a better match-up for Fisher. He isnt tall enough to contest Rays shots and i dont see how he can keep up with Rays constant off the ball movement.

Anyway just curious on your thoughts laker fans.

I think most of the time it will be Kobe. Kobe didn't have any trouble tracking Jason Richardson for 6 games while averaging 33.6 points a game. We might see Sasha (god forbid) pestering Rondo to give Kobe spells on the less active Allen, but really I expect we'll see Kobe tracking Rondo most of the time.

I do also think he'll come out with a collapse philosophy and make Rondo hit some shots, which he may very well do, which will force him to really lock down and spend more energy as the series progresses, but I don't worry about what Kobe has in the tank for the Finals.

Total minutes played in 2008 NBA finals:
Trevor Ariza - 22
Andrew Bynum - 0

This time will be significantly different with Ron Ron and even a 75% Bynum.

Most of those Ariza minutes also came in the blowout.

I love all these Boston fans thinking Pierce has a good matchup. He had GOOD numbers against Vlad. It ain't even like he tore it up. Well, I guess that is "tearing" it up for Boston players. Pierce is hands down most overrated player of the last 10 years, and I can't wait for that to be exposed

This should be an excellent series. I've always thought Phil Jackson was a bit overrated since he had Jordan/Pippen/Shaq/Kobe all entering the primes of their careers but I give credit to Jackson for his recent statement that the way to approach the Celtics is on what they do as a basketball team and don't be overly focused on matchups....thinking that this is 7 or 8 1 on 1 battles or simply a game to stop a few stars.

to be honest i'd rather have Rondo getting 25 pts, 4 assists, than Rondo getting 15 pts and 10 assists

And Phil does too. Rondo is going to hit some jumpers, and we are going to be okay with that instead of freaking out. Let the kid drop 40 as long as it's in the half court, and he's doing it all himself. He doesn't have the will to win games by himself

From a C's fan

Post#159 » by Fidel Sarcasmo » Thu Jun 3, 2010 12:41 pm

My heart sorta goes out to you guys about your Center. It's gonna suck to not have him at full strength or at all for that matter. Because if my team does win it, you guys are going to be left thinking what if you had your center. You couldv'e won it all. And believe me, that feeling sucks. It happened to us last year with Kevin Garnett being out the whole playoffs. We took the Orlando Magic to seven games and they blew through the Cavs after word in 4. Which makes me believe that If we had Garnett we would've beaten the Magic easily and seen you guys in the finals. But it just wasn't in the cards.

I still think this is going to be a great series. I'm thinking 6 games or 7 games I see the Celtics being able to take a game in L.A. and I also think the Lakers are capable of taking a game From the C's in Boston. Get ready for a low scoring series, that's a given. You guys might get away with a game or two like around 100 or 105. But you wont sniff big numbers that's even if you had a full strength Bynum. The C's defense dicates the scores of the game the majority of the time. If you dont believe me now, You'll be believers along the course of the series.
