Re: 2017 Lakers Draft Pick Discussion
Not so bold estimation of Lakers brass thinking:
I believe that Lonzo Ball has been first on our board this entire time. Dating back to Ball's first couple games at UCLA. I think he's the player the Lakers have wanted all along, and I think that has not changed at all. I think that if the Lakers were picking 1st, that they would be drafting Ball.
All of the "noise/smoke" in my humble opinion, is grounded in fact that the Lakers have the second overall pick, and want to ensure that they land Ball. I think he always was, and he always has been our guy.
I would say, for a better indication of what the Lakers are thinking, watch what they're doing, not what they're saying. Magic, or someone in the Lakers brass has been to almost all of Lonzo's games while at UCLA. They have meet with him four times. they had a private dinner with him. Jeanie went to lunch with him. They worked him out twice. All signs have always pointed to Lonzo. I've wanted him on the Lakers since his senior year at Chino Hills. I think he will transform this franchise on day one. I think that he is a transcendent talent. I would take him over Fultz, and I think the Lakers echo that sentiment.

I feel like most of this noise is really just Danny and Magic playing war games for old times sake.

so that pretty much locks up Lonzo at #2 unless we really do move up.

Re: 2017 Lakers Draft Pick Discussion
But those things have been chinks in his armor since he first started at Kansas. I'd like to see what they mean by that, though. Maybe the shooting looked good but just didn't drop, or his handle couldn't hold up to pressure, etc.

Re: 2017 Lakers Draft Pick Discussion
I don't know if the reports/leaks coming from our side are legitimate (they seem legit, i.e. JJ can't shoot, Fultz killing his workout, Zo being gassed), or whether they are a smokescreen, but if they are legit, it's kind of an issue that should piss people off, especially Magic/Pelinka. There's a reason why these workouts are private, and if we are paying you to work on our staff, you shouldn't be leaking this ****.

Maybe they think Fultz is on a different tier from everybody else in the draft like a Simmons last year or Towns the year before.
I don't get the theory that Lakers are leaking stuff so Ball goes number 1 either. Celts have never for a second seemed interested in Ball, it's been either Fultz or Jackson for them and the only team that is considering to trade up is obviously targeting Fultz.

Re: 2017 Lakers Draft Pick Discussion
Damn, I feel like Portland is gonna snatch Bell up with there #26 pick. If Jawun Evans is there at #28, I believe you have to take him. Great fit off the bench for backup PG.

Re: 2017 Lakers Draft Pick Discussion
Even if we get Lonzo, it won't seem as awesome as it did before, knowing that Fultz destroyed his workouts, and that our F.O. viewed him as the best player & tried to trade up to get him.
