Lol, whats new, Knicks fans hating on the Heat. This rivalry goes back a while.

Not just that, but NY fans in general hates everything Miami, and Miami hates everything NY.

Jets vs Dolphins rivalry.
Dolphins vs Bills rivalry.
Mets vs Marlins rivarlry.
Heat vs Knicks rivalry.
Marlins vs Yankees *not a rivalry, but still* in the World Series in 2003.

hey there is no excuses for real.

The Lakers didn't execute anything well today.

We let Miami run and run and run and run.

Nonetheless I know we didn't hand out anything close to our best punches today.

Miami can celebrate this win as they deserve it. Will get a chance at them again in a month .

I expect this Lakers team to catch on fire in these upcming weeks.

Terrible slumps like this sometimes could be a good thing as weird as that may sound.

If the Lakers are playing at 50% this game would have been a blow out for the Heat. The Lakers are looking forward to this game as much as the Heat are. You really think they are thinking as if this is just a normal regular season game?

The thing here is, Miami's goal is to have their big 3 play well and shut down the other team with their defense, and they accomplished their goals with ease. It was as if the Lakers have no clue how to push them out of their comfort zone. All we can hope for is that the Lakers know how to dictate the game again using their own style.

No discredit to the Heat they played great today on both ends on the floor.

As for us it's no secret we didnt play our best . Shiiiiiit! Nothing close to it.
Pau and Kobe with only 17 points each. Ron with 8. Drew not back to his old self yet.

No reason we should let Chalmers get 13 points. But we did. No discredit to him but he shouldn't be dropping that much against us. Especially since they were all wide open looks.

Our defense and offense is bad right now. I'm still confident it will torch up later though.

Some will call me biased or a Laker homer but seriously this happens every year.

i agree that there should be no excuses and the officiating double standard imo hasn't been very kind to us recently, but that's just masking some disturbing "bad habits" as JVG would put it.

bad defensive rotations are the most glaring weakness right now, and offensively jerry west brought this up during this past off season of how he points to needing someone who can consistently be effective with dribble penetration as something to improve on going forward for a 3peat.

whether that means bringing in someone or shaking things up somehow, i dont know. i am interested in seeing what other knowledgable laker posters think of these 2 issues?

Jackson acknowledged that it's tough to watch the team play below capability, but isn't going to overreact to a December loss.

Kobe Bryant"We know what we're capable of -- that's the problem."
"We need to get that straight. We need to play with more focus, put more importance on these games. I don't like it."
Kobe Bryant summing things up pretty well: (1/2) "I think these games mean more to our opponents than they do to us."

Phil Jackson: "Just be patient with us. We'll be fine" (by the end of the season).

It's only one game, yes but a statement game at that and we were not the ones who made it today.

What worries me the most is that this team is digging a hole for themselves with each loss. It will be increasingly more difficult to expect this team (with their inconsistent play) to come out of the West against the Spurs or Mavs, let alone the East winner whether it's Heat, Cs or Magic.

Yes I know teams have to win on the road come playoffs, but the owner of HCA throughout does not. And after last year's break when we got it in the Finals, I don't think many of us Laker fans honestly can say we would have won game 7 on the road given Kobe's horrid fg%.

This team is far too talented to not come out of the West hardly breaking a sweat. But they have to start playing like every game matters because IMO they all do.

Kobe shouldn't be talking right now, he is one of the worst players on the court today. His defense this season has completely disappeared and his offense has taken a step back as well. This man used to be the one guy we could always count on to give his 100% every game, but now he takes just as many mental breaks as the other slackers on the roster. Other than his trash talking with LBJ, Kobe has never showed that he even gave a damn about this game whatsoever today. So next time, put up or shut up, Kobe, and tell that to your teammates too.

Kali, although statistically Kobe was on par with Wade i do think he was subpar to his standards. I didn't think he attacked Wade or the Heat defense like Wade did. Instead he settled for fadeaways and tough shots. I wouldn't go as far as calling him out as the weak link, but Kobe does have to set the tone for us more than he did today. It was a physical game and we just weren't up for it, that's all.

I think what's been missing from us lately is some good ole booty. Everyone knows booty = win.

call me a homer say i'm in denial but i will say it again. the lakers are tired right now. they have played the most games in the last three years. you can call it an excuse but it is fact. there is not a modern day team that has made it to four straight finals, and that's because you get tired playing deep into the postseason every year. we are coasting, and it is showing. sure tonight would have been a great win,but in the end it means no more than the loss to the bucks. kobe and pau are sluggish but they will come around. in a seven game series with our coaching staff, and our players i still don't see anyone beating us four times ,and until someone actually does knock us off i am going to hold my position.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

As far as performing below expectations, Kobe takes the award today. If the Lakers do get a 3 peat, we can stop with this nonsense about Kobe's leadership intangibles. No respected leader would get riled up so easily by ticky tack non-calls and complain non-stop throughout the game. I am not just talking about this game, I am talking about the way he has acted this year and how he thinks every call and non-call should go his way.

while i agree that too much comlaining about calls or non-calls will make you lose credibility with the zebras, it's not hard (from a betting perspective) to see that right from the get go with the 2 ticky tack fouls called on ron when he was guarding lbj... that we had an uphill battle to climb this game. and like some people in the covers forums have mentioned, compared to some of the other superstars in the league both past and present (jordan, lbj, wade, durant), kobe honestly doesnt gete nearly as many calls, and im not saying this from a homer or sore loser perspective after this one game, ive been saying this for quite a while now.

having said that though, it's inexcusable for playing awful defense for the better part of this year to start and some lackluster offensive execution does not help. gasol showing his alter ego of gasoft doesnt help either. these issues have nothing to do with the refs and this is why i'm greatly concerned at where this is heading, especially given that the competition this year is much tougher than last year (other than the lakers, the spurs, mavs, celtics, and heat have all imo played better ball than we have and they are all legit contenders above us in the standings).

Microfib I misread your Kobe comment.

I took it as Kobe being one of the worst basketball players on the court in todays game.

My Bad.

I guess it's too many of these idiotic Kobe Hate threads and posts I've been reading in the GB and other team forums.
I started to think everyone was saying a bunch of nonsense trash about KB.
Once Again My Apologies.

I agree with everything in your post.
